Christian/Muslim ThreadsScholar Bart Ehrman confess that the Bible we have is .... :: Re: Word of God?Re: Word of God? Excuse me, but words are under debate here and you were not asked which nature of Quran has personal "benefit." If the main point "words of God" was mere temporal benefit, then he need not bother introducing Quran when Buddha was sufficient. Not surprising when Muslims are pressed details on relationship of Allah and Quran, most (all on JCF) avoid answering. I will just assume you are unable to discuss nature of Quran and your acceptance is strictly leap of faith. As for analogy, perhaps believed logical among Muslims, but I can assure you it is neither clever nor intelligent. However, I will withhold responding to analogy until you provide information on the similarity between Allah and Kym. Then what is your complaint when a message is expressed in words that are understandable. Words are worthless if they, themselves cannot produce an understandable message. There are numerous English versions of Quran, and none are in total agreement . Should it then be assumed the translators are dishonest Muslims and the English texts differ among themselves and esp. with Arabic text. The Word can only be uncreated, while His speech is created. I will note here, sheer asininity for Muslims to believe they can argue against Jesus The Word, by using God's speech from OT. You complain much about Christians taken Quran words or verses out of context but you, yourself do nothing to avoid doing the same to Bible. Even the average Muslim should understand the speech of Allah (kalam-Allah) refers both to uncreated internal speech (kalam nafsi) and the created worded speech (kalam lafzi). The debate here concerns which is the uncreated Word of God, Lord Jesus or Quran, and not some razzle-dazzle play on words your brand of New Age Islam wants to engage. The theological controversy over the Quran, a controversy which remains unresolved to this day, concerns the relationship of the Qur'an, as the Word of Allah, to Allah himself. Many Muslims are too fearful of exploring just what is meant by calling Quran, Word of God. New topics does not necessarily mean non-issue, if reason exist for introducing them. However the issue is not new, whether uncreated speech of Allah mean the universe was created for Mohammed. Allah is supposedly speaking in first person and mainstream Islam believe (your liberal indifference to nature of Quran aside) Kalam Allah is uncreated. If the assumption Mohammed is referred as the one who will recite to mankind the uncreated words of the Creator: Then appears all must have been created for Mohammed to recite the uncreated. Once again I invite you to discuss the Islamic eternal relationships in topic Trinity and Islam Duality http://www.jesus-christ-forums.com/home/viewtopic ... 77&start=0 joseph |
