Christian/Muslim ThreadsScholar Bart Ehrman confess that the Bible we have is .... :: Word of God?Word of God? You remind me with the scientists of words during the 3th century of Islam under the goverment of Khalifa Ma'mun ibn Harun (786-833). Anyways, The Quran is the word of God, I will not say Cearted or Uncearted. It is just smiply the words of God. What is the main point of the words of God is how can it help me in the life? How can give me benefits? How can it organized my life? The question Created or Uncreated will not give me any benefit. It is not how much the food is expensive? But it is how it give benefits for the human being? For anyone studies Christianity history for a part of his life, he will get who establised the scicence of the term "Logos". And How the Greek Philosophs thought the Logos is conceived as a rational divine power that orders and directs the universe; it is identified with God, nature, and fate, especially in Stoicism ideas, as it developed after the 4th century BC. The Logos is "present everywhere" and seems to be understood as both a divine mind and at least a semiphysical force, acting through space and time. Within the cosmic order determined by the Logos are individual centers of potentiality, vitality, and growth. The term logos has been developed by Jewish-Hellenistic philosopher Philo (20 BCE - 40 CE), According to Philo theory the Logos is a "mediating principle between God and the world and can be understood as God's Word or the Divine Wisdom, which is immanent in the world." In 1 Kings 2:4 (King James Version) {4That the LORD may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take heed to their way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.} Do you see the phrase "That the LORD may continue his word"? What is the meaning of the term "His words" here? Tell me Josef. How do you understand it? We can understand through the contexts by "His Speech". Can anyone argue that the term "His words" means "Jesus (Peace of Allah be upon him and his pure mother". Last thing about this subject, in any language in the world, For example, I can say " Josef get married to kym" But I can not say "Josef get married to the words of Kym". It will not make any sense I can not but the person's words in the Jail, but I can put the person himself inside the jail. Words are just way we use to express what we can do. http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=Logos you will find the meanings of the term "logos" according to Phliosophy, Stoicism, Judaism, Hellenistic Judaism and Christianity. I hope you can get the defination of the term "Logos" have been developed like how you can read now in the John Gospel according to Hellenistic Judaism. The term "logos" is not new at all and its defination used like how Christian use right now. Philosophy. In pre-Socratic philosophy, the principle governing the cosmos, the source of this principle, or human reasoning about the cosmos. Among the Sophists, the topics of rational argument or the arguments themselves. In Stoicism, the active, material, rational principle of the cosmos; nous. Identified with God, it is the source of all activity and generation and is the power of reason residing in the human soul. Judaism. In biblical Judaism, the word of God, which itself has creative power and is God's medium of communication with the human race. In Hellenistic Judaism, a hypostasis associated with divine wisdom. Christianity. In Saint John's Gospel, especially in the prologue (1:1-14), the creative word of God, which is itself God and incarnate in Jesus. Also called Word. As a matter of fact it is so hard to argue with a Christian, why? Because every one has a main thought. Catholics has their own though which differs totally from Orthoxos and Protestants. I have a record here for whom may it concern by a Bishop in the Eastern Orthoxos Church in Egypt during their periodically conference stated the differences between Eastern Orthoxos and Protestans Church then finally he decleared that Protestans will never see the Heaven of God. Whenver, Tell me Josef which Bible do you want me to use? For Orthoxos the only right Bible should have (73 books) and they argue that the Protestants Bible miss it. Protestants Bible (Just 66 books). Which version do you want me to use? I will give u a small berife about the NIV which you argue about it, The introduction of NIV , Version Information {The New International Version (NIV) is a translation made by more than one hundred scholars working from the best available Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts. It was conceived in 1965 when, after several years of study by committees from the Christian Reformed Church and the National Association of Evangelicals, a trans-denominational and international group of scholars met at Palos Heights, Illinois, and agreed on the need for a new translation in contemporary English. Their conclusion was endorsed by a large number of church leaders who met in Chicago in 1966. Responsibility for the version was delegated to a self-governing body of fifteen Biblical scholars, the Committee on Bible Translation, and in 1967, the New York Bible Society (now International Bible Society) generously undertook the financial sponsorship of the project. The translation of each book was assigned to a team of scholars, and the work was thoroughly reviewed and revised at various stages by three separate committees. The Committee submitted the developing version to stylistic consultants who made invaluable suggestions. Samples of the translation were tested for clarity and ease ofreading by various groups of people. In short, perhaps no other translation has been made by a more thorough process of review and revision. The Committee held to certain goals for the NIV: that it be an Accurate, Beautiful, Clear, and Dignified translation suitable for public and private reading, teaching, preaching, memorizing, and liturgical use. The translators were united in their commitment to the authority and infallibility of the Bible as God's Word in written form. They agreed that faithful communication of the meaning of the original writers demands frequent modifications in sentence structure (resulting in a "thought-for-thought" translation) and constant regard for the contextual meanings of words.} Anyways, I used KJV here in this article? Is that okay with u? Tell me which version do you want me to use? Everytime I talk with a Christian whatever he is (Catholic, Protestant or Coptic) I hear a new topic. From where Joseph did u get this phrase, or you just ask a question? Anyways, This matter can be taken like new topic. I have to see what friend Kai Hagbard wrote for me during my absence.
