Religious Cults & False Prophets~ Discussions and DebatesCritical Identity of BaptismFirst, I quoted the work of a respected and renown Jewish scholar, Max I. Dimont which you completely ignored. Secondly, the name JESUS in English is "Yehsha" or "Yesha" in Hebrew and comes from the word meaning salvation. Go look it up (Strong's 3467). And this name "Yehsha" has the "s" added to it in the Greek language to give it masculine gender as "IESOUS". The Greek does not have the "sh" sound as in "Yesha" thus it appears as "IESOUS". Since the letter "h" in Hebrew/Aramaic is silent it is omitted in "IESHOUS" but when placed in the name becomes "IEHSHOUS". And then when the rules of Hebrew grammar are applied it becomes "JEHSHOUS" which is JESUS. You quoted some quack Nicolaitane scholars without giving a second thought as to what they claimed. You cannot play around with the name of Jesus for the sake of vain argument. I pray the Lord will send conviction upon you if its not already too late. |
