Christian/Muslim ThreadsChristianity: Man-Made Religion; Islam: Divine Principle.
*sigh* Here we go again. Islam (the principle) is submission by definition. Islam (the religion) is not solely submission because there are rules you have to follow that have not been around since the beginning of time. Your religion just happened to pick the same word for it's name as an existing word that already meant something else. Submitting to God is not the only thing that muslims know. If it were, then I would agree with you. But the fact is that God's revelation has not always been around. When the revelation was revealed, then you had to read it and study it and interpret it - this is religion, not a principle. This is why this thread is so confusing, and why I've continually asked that the word Islam only be used when referring to the religion (the dos and don'ts that are outlined in the Quran), not the principle. *confused* What are you saying I'm wrong about - the fact that you would object to what I wrote in that paragraph, or the whole premise of the paragraph itself? My point was that if there was no such word as "submission," but there was only the word "Christianity" that meant "to submit," then you would object if Christians claimed that for this reason, Christianity is not a religion, but was only a principle that had been around since the beginning of time. You would object because you know that Christianity has a bunch of rules in the Bible that make up the religion - it is not just submission. This is the same reason I object to the claim that Orhtodox made to start off this thread. Yes, I'm well aware of this. Orthodox made sure we all knew this earlier in this thread. It would seem that many of your Islamic brothers would need to be made aware of this, though. If someone says "All muslims are terrorists," why do Islamicists (for lack of a better word) always automatically think that that person is referring to only those that follow Islam. It could very well be that the person meant "all submitters to God" not "all those that follow Islam." You all seem to be very possessive of the word "muslim" until it comes to threads like this. How did the term "muslim" get associated with those that follow Islam, then? I would think you would view it a derogatory to be called a muslim. |
