Christian/Muslim ThreadsChristianity: Man-Made Religion; Islam: Divine Principle. :: reply.reply. Before we get into doctrines and concepts within the religions, we must deal with the actual institution and development of the religion. That is why I want to discuss where Christianity comes from and how it got started. Furthermore I want to prove that Islam is a principle and NOT a religion like Christianity. Please don't be thrown of by this arabic word, think of its translation - submission - so that way it does not become an "ism". You can not think of submission to be a man-made religion because its description in the Quran is not labled to mankind alone. According to the Quran everything was created to do the will of God. Everything "submits" to the command and will of God. From the orbits to the laws of nature, everything submits to the command of Allah and thats why its 'perfect'. Every human being according to Muslim theology was born 'Muslim' - born to submit to the command and will of God, however unlike orbits and laws of nature, mankind was given the ability to choose right from wrong without compulsion. This sets up for trial and tribulation in life. Meaning that we have a purpose in life and it must be fulfilled. If we take the idea of Christianity that salvation is acquired when one accepts that Jesus died for the sins of man, then the purpose of life would then be to simply believe in such a symbolic event. But thats not the purpose of our existance. Our purpose is to submit, because through submission we prove our faith in Him. Otherwise life in itself would be meaningless because we are all sinners and we will sin because of what Adam and Eve did, and basically we are awaiting our fate through faith in a symbolic event. This is not mankind's purpose. The point that I am making here is that submission is not a man-made religion, it is a divine principle required by the will of God. All Christians give effort to follow the commandments. Why? What use is there to follow commandments and be good when in the end we will end up sinning? Is our faith in the symbolic event not sufficient? Or is there a combination of works and faith, because works prove our faith? And the works we do are for what, to please God because its what God wants. What God wants describes His will, and us following His will is what is called submission. Everything else is nature and in creation is Muslim - it surrenders to the command of God without question. All of mankind were born with the PURPOSE of submission to God. This is the purpose of life. So man was born Muslim. Yet man who is given a life of trials and tribulation to believe and practice or not to believe in practice, often chooses not to be Muslim and follows his or her own desires and falls into temptation like Adam and Eve did when they submitted to their own will and ate from the forbidden tree. The story of Adam and Eve was the first sign of Islam (submission). God created them and told them to dwell. God said to them to go where ever you want and do what ever you want. God gave them freedom of choice and will. But God commanded "do not approach this one tree". This was the COMMANDMENT of God - to not approach the tree. So Adam and Eve were tested, were they going to submit to the command of God - the reason they were created - or would they submit to their own will and desires and eat. Clearly Satan is a force in this world which leads one to disobedience and he succeeded. Will the future learn from the mistakes of their forefathers in Adam and Eve or will they fail like they did. Are we going to submit to the will and commands of God as inscribed to us, or will we steal and lie and cheat and approach these many forbidden trees that exist. Honestly its not difficult to follow the commandments. How hard is it to honor you mother and father? How difficult is it to love your neighbor? How difficult is it to not kill innocents? How difficult is it to not commit adultry? How difficult is it to worship ONE God? God has not requires much from us at all. If we really do believe in God we should submit to His commands. Furthermore we must look at Christianity and how its formed hundreds of years after Jesus Christ (as) in Rome and more specifically it was the Roman Catholic Church which dominated Christiantiy - and yet many modern Christians accuse the Catholic Church of being a seperate religion altogether. My question to you is that are you ready to accept that the formation of 'Christianity' was infact instituted and labeled through later generations of man and its formation and institution is infact not Biblical? Similarly the Jewish faith which was later labeled as Judaism too is a man-man name for the religion of the Jews and Israelites. Obviously "ism" - theology of - Judah (tribe of Judah were Jews originate as tribe - Jesus was Jewish). After this do you admit that Abraham, Moses, Jesus, Isaac, David etc. were are individuals who belonged to no religion, nor where they the 'founder' of any religion, that they came simply to deliver the message of God, the law (Torah) and the Good News (Gospel) to man. My issue is not about elements right now, its about the entire formation and institution of Christianity, how it came into existance and was labeled. Wrong. Jews don't follow the Christian OT. They may believe in many parts of it, but their Bible is different than yours. Judaism is too a man-made and man-labeled religion for no prophet ever gave foundation to a "Judaism". If the institution and formation of a religion is man-interpreted and man-made, and its terms - ie. Christianity-Bible-Trinity are also man-man - not found in scripture - than more than likely the doctrines, interpretations and beleifs are also man-made and man-interpreted. After all the Catholic church and its teachings are a clear example of how mainstream Christianity is man-interpreted and man-made. First of all Muslims believe in ONE God - THE GOD - and we claim to believe in the one and only God who also revealed Himself to Abraham and his descendants. Arabs like Jews are descendants of Abraham through Ishamel, and we do claim to believe in the same God as mentioned in the first commandment given to Moses and Jesus. Hear O Israel, Our Lord God is ONE God. However we do not believe in the God of Christianity - ie the Trinitarian God - nor do we worship any of them in a Trinity. Second its not illogical to say that mankind was created to submit to God and thus were created as Muslims - remember do not take these arabic words as labels, rather understand their meaning before you accuse. Believer, I am more than willing to discuss with you the elements within Islam but I started this thread to first discuss the institution of Islam and Christianity in themselves. I will continue my reply to Believer and Omega after work ..... Quick note to Omega, the Bible is also man-made and man-interpreted ...... I will explain later in detail and will also go over how the Torah (law) and Gospel (good news) are not the Bible as you assume. The word Bible means compiled books and also is a man-incorporated term. The Bible was canonized and compiled and authorized by men several years later. The NT accounts were written by men "According To" their own intellect and not through divine revelation. |
