Christian/Muslim ThreadsChristianity: Man-Made Religion; Islam: Divine Principle.I think Believer's point is that you can't use a "Christianity is a man-made religion" argument to try to make the point that Islam is better alternative because Islam is every bit as man-made (if not, more so) than Christianity. Every religion in the world is going to have some sort of man-made/interpreted element in it because - guess what? - man is the one who is following it, and not every man is going to believe the same thing about every point of any given set of writings. Judaism is a religion that follows the laws of the OT. Christianity is a religion (or more properly, a relationship) that follows the teachings of the entire Bible, OT and NT. While the terms may not have always existed, the basic beliefs have. Christians of today are believers of God and believers in the past work of Christ on the cross. Jews of the OT were believers of God and believers in the prophecy of a coming Messiah who would be offered as a sacrifice for the sins of the world. People who lived before there were Jews (like Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob) were believers of God just like the Jews who followed them were. All of these have one thing in common - they were/are believers of God as He is revealed in His Word (even if His written Word had not been revealed yet). Islam, on the other hand, does not believe in God as he is revealed in the Bible. Thus, to call Abraham, Moses, and Jesus Muslims is incorrect because Muslims do not believe in God as the Bible reveals Him. To say that everyone who believes in God can be categorically called a Muslim is completely illogical because the God of Christians is not the same as the Allah of Islam, and neither of them is the same as the Brahman of Hindu, and neither of those is the same as [insert pagan god's name here] of [insert pagan religion's name here], etc. |
