Apologetics Forum: Ask questions about Christianity/Debate doctrinesCatholicismAieno Wrote: It also works against you, since all those 30,000+ denominations also disagree with one another. Thus why they are separate denominations. I am not wrong, protestant denominations are always popping up. Every week, another denomination with a new understanding of scripture pops up out of nowehere claiming it has the correct interpretation of scripture; and what do they use as evidence to support such a claim? You guessed it, "the guidence of the "Holy spirit". So I ask you, how many Holy Spirits are there? I thought the Holy Spirit was one. Aieno Wrote: The Catholic Church only claims its infallible when it comes to matters of doctrine, most of all those Protestant denominations do the same thing. The only difference is we believe the Holy Spirit never abandoned the Catholic Church. Thus why it is still infallible to teach correct doctrine and has been for over 2000 years. It was infallible when it decided the canon of the NT, do you agree? What is also evident from the NT is that; Jn 21:25 ... not everything is in the Bible. 2 Thess 2:15; 2 Tim 2:2; 1 Cor 11:2; 1 Thess 2:13 ... Paul speaks of oral tradition. Acts 2:42 ... early Christians followed apostolic tradition. 2 Pet 3:16 ... Bible hard to understand, get distorted. 2 Jn 1:12; 3 Jn 1:13-14 ... more oral tradition. 2 Pet 1:20-21 ... against personal interpretation. Acts 8:31; Heb 5:12 ... guidance needed to interpret scriptures. Aieno Wrote: And I believe the fullness of that one truth is found in the Catholic Church. |
