To amdntstr and Aineo:
You have no idea then what the Old Testament means to the New Testament. I know some Protestants who agree with a lot of the prefigurements and fulfillments of the Old into the New.
My brother is Protestant (very Anti-Catholic) and he even says that the New Adam is Jesus. How can you not see that? God had to bring in a new Adam because the old one messed it all up for us. Therefore God fulfilling the New with Jesus was the best thing that could have ever happened. God's greatest thing is not creation but redemption; and we get that with Jesus. We needed redemption because of the sin of Adam.
I will not waste my time here and explain every single one to you. But they are not "utter nonsence" as you put it.
And as far as Solomon the only prefigurement there is the fact that Solomon was King and had his mother as Queen; that is Jewish custom or law. Now Jesus being true and reigning King of the Jews only stands to reason that His mother Mary is Queen. I will not explain that to you either, because I don't have time for this. All I will say is that we do NOT "worship" Mary. We only "honor" her the way that Jesus did. If you truly ask yourself "what would Jesus do" you better think really hard about that. Jesus LOVES His mother and He honors her so very much. He did as she requested and He still does to this day. He showed His honor for her at the wedding in Cana. Mary is Queen of Heaven, Queen of Angels and Queen of all Saints. And Saints are NOT dead, they are more alive than you and I; that is also biblical.
I just ask one favor of all of you "jumping" all over me after reading my posts. Please think before you start posting away. Just take a few minutes to think about what I posted. Also, please don't assume that because someone told you what they think the Catholic church teaches, that that is indeed what they teach. If you really want to know what the Catholic church teaches, don't ask a Protestant minister (even if he used to be a Catholic or a Catholic Priest). Instead ask a true practicing Catholic or a Catholic priest. There are many Catholics who don't even know what the Catholic church teaches and they don't even know what it means to be a Christian much less a Catholic Christian. But as sure as I am writing this, I know what the Catholic church teaches. It saddens me that many Catholics are poorly catechised and even if they were well catechised, they still don't know. I pray for my non-practicing Catholic brethren to be enlightened. I also pray for all of you. I love all my brothers and sisters in Christ.
