Things will become enormous if I keep quoting you, so we'll just take things one at a time.
You keep making vague references to Origen and his connection to "false" Catholic doctine, etc., but you dont actually speak to specific points I've made. Here. That you have a problem with. I'm not sure if your problem lies with what I've quoted from him specifically thus far, or something I havent quoted. Perhaps its something I have yet to read (his work is extensive). Obviously, I'd prefer it if you spoke to what I've specifically said thus far with regards to quotes from Origen (I think I've used two thus far - one here, and one in the Islam discussion forum). But if you want to bring up some other point you have difficulty wit him on, quote him, cite the source, and if he's wrong, I'll be the first to say "He's off on that point." But, I bet if you read his stuff, you'll see he's pretty careful to either back up his assertions with Scripture, or say he's not sure. So in that sense, if you find he's "wrong," he beat you to it. As for his taking verses "out of context," how is that any different than what you've been doing over the last 3 pages with Ptolemy, where he tries to, in fact, establish context for these verses. And in fact, what Origen does isnt to take things out of contect - rather, he uses Scripture verses to demonstrate how the Bible is a unified source of truth, when read with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. That's so obvious when you read his work. Have you, by the way?
Christ mediates between me and God with what He did for me on the cross, and by imparting the Holy Spirit to me to replace my dead human spirit, to guide me. No one knows the Father except the Son, and we see the invisible Father when we "put on" the incoruptible nature of Jesus Christ.
Of course I'll be assesed based on my actions, and not what I understand - because my understanding is hopelessly small and limited by my mortal humanness. I'd be screwed if I had to take a test on "All Things You Could Possibly Have Known" - on a test like that, God would get 100%, and my score wouldn't even register as a percentage, because I know infinitely less than He does. But I know that each decision that He places in front of me (not in front of you, in front of me) He gives me the capacity to know what the right thing to do is. He gives me the capacity to know that right - He doesnt give it to you to tell me. He gives you your right answers for whats in front of you. And I believe that we both have sincerely chosen correctly at times, and at others not. Know this: the only person marking our scores for right and wrong is God. This is not grade 1, where you pass your test to the person beside you to score (my seat partner always screwed me over for marks when that happened, grrr, lol). And its a good thing, too. We'd all have at least one person condemn us to hell if it was up to each of us.
As for the Cor and Levi verses: its talking about incest,a nd God is simply demonstrating that things dont work like that, and that there's something better He has in mind for relationships, and how they function to bring people closer to Him. It has nothing to do with my being gay.
Think carefully, Aineo - that warning about carelessness is as much directed at you as it is at anyone else. I know my faith doesnt rely on my understanding, but that my understanding simply demonstrates how much I have to rely on faith.
