Response: (a) The quote is from the alleged inerrant Bible, specifically Matthew quoting or paraphrasing Jesus as saying that the mustard is the “smallest of seeds.” Yes, Jesus was a Jew but
he is also God incarnate & as such he would have to have three attributes of divinity which are:
(1) Omnipresence - being everywhere at the same time & if Einstein’s theory of relativity with regards to time is correct, being everywhere at all times, past, present & future simultaneously.
(2) Omnipotence - all powerful
(3) Omniscient = all knowing. (includng botanical knowledge)
If Jesus was all knowing, how come he would state that a mustard was the smallest of seeds when, in fact, orchid seeds are smaller?
Response: (b) The use of proverbial inaccuracy is not a loophole for inerrancy.
Which reminds me of another instance of Biblical errancy - Jesus & the fig tree.
According to Matthew
“...“And on the morrow, when they had come out of Bethany, he [Jesus] hungered. And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if perhaps he might find anything thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for it was not the season of figs. And he answered and said unto it, ‘‘No man [will] eat fruit from you from now on –– for ever.’’ And his disciples heard it . . .And as they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away from the roots...”
Again, if Jesus is God incarnate, His omniscience is sorely lacking in Matthew’s story of Jesus being hungry & seeing a fig tree, stretched his hand among the leaves to see if there was any fruit. There wasn’t, therefore, he cursed the fig tree & it withered to death.
If Jesus was the author of all creation, he would have certainly have known when one of his creations, the fig tree, bore fruit. & would not have
stretched his hand for fruit if it was not the season for figs. Then to take out his hunger-caused-anger on the fig tree because it was merely following its natural cycles of fruiting which Jesus Himself, as creator had caused to be imprinted in the genetic code of the fig tree leaves a lot to be
doubted as to the inerrancy of this particular biblical passage.
Or are you going to tell me Jesus was making believe he couldn't know the fig tree did not have any fruit for the purpose of explaining that trees (people) who do not bear fruit (good actions) are to be destroyed?
A bit dishonest, isn't it?
Just as I pointed out the divine genetic coding of the fig tree with regards to its fruiting, the Creator’s genetic coding of homosexuality in the animal kingdom as well as among the animal known as Homo Sapiens Sapiens, is indicative of His will regarding the “fruiting” (pun intended) in the human homosexual community.
So, we see that a fig tree is cursed & killed for obeying its God-given nature & if we assume the alleged divinely inspired prohibitions against homosexuality, inborn or conditional, in humans also translate into death & eternal damnation.
Sorry, the whole premise of Biblical inerrancy reeks, ironically, of error.
Response: (c) Science is not a divine entity. Science is merely the empirically verifiable explanation of God’s creation.
BTW, regarding your question as to there not being any divine instructions on homosexual couples, the following:
"..."The Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and 362 admonishments to the heterosexuals. That doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals. It's just that they need more supervision." Lynn Lavner..."
