Lady Fatima,
I'm writing this between visitors and busy moments so my thoughts may sound muddled or not developed, but I need to address your comments. You sound amazed that Christians should agree that God's thoughts and His ways are not ours and that we admit that we need His help to interpret them.
I unashamedly say two things.. the Word of God is sharper than any two edged sword. As you read it, you learn how to live, you are challenged, encouraged, convicted and you grow in your knowledged and relationship to God. It speaks for itself at a superficial level. Anyone can open the Word and read and understand it.
But there is another level of the scriptures, the level that all Christians know, when oft read and much loved verses take on new meaning. the word of God is just that.. the Word of God. It is his right to make new truths and insights known to us. His word speaks to us and as Jesus promised, the Holy Spirit takes the words of God and speaks them to our heart. What we hear with ears and read with our eyes, suddenly takes on new meaning as God Himself teaches us what He means in His word.
The ultimate way of understanding the Bible is of course to look at Jesus, the Word of God, come in the flesh. See, God the Father speaks His word to us through the Bible, God the son shows the Father's word to us and what it means through His life and death and resurrection, and God the Holy Spirit applies what we read to our lives today. Only the Spirit of God can fully explain God's word as He is God Himself telling us His word.
There are verses to back up all I am saying, but time has gone and I have to go. If you want the Bible verses let me know and I will share them with you tomorrow.
