ArchivedThe Quran - Is pre-ordained sin mans responsibility?Peace Carol, Well of course Carol. I remind you of the meaning of the word: “The act or an instance of intentionally killing oneself” http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=suicide Is this definition not in accordance with the actions of Jesus? Whether he intended good or not is not in question. The fact that he willingly sacrificed himself immediately qualifies as being suicide. Note the keyword is willingly! To claim that God would have sacrificed Ishmaels is completely absurd. God can choose to lie, or break a promise or cheat, however, will the Almighty choose commit such thing? Of course not, since such actions would be deemed “Un-Godly”. Like wise, for God to have sacrificed Ishmael would also be considered an ungodly act. There’s a huge difference in sacrificing an animal and a human being. In Islam, we do not sacrifice human beings. Period! In Islam, the fact that we die and many other things is not the result of Adam and Eve being sent out heaven. It was part of God’s plan that Adam and Eve were to live on Earth and have their children there. It was by the will of God that mankind will be dwelling on Earth for their prescribed time until death came knocking! This is no fault of Adam. The evidence lies in a hadith of the prophet: Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported: Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: There was argument between Adam and Moses. Moses said to Adam: You are our father. You disappointed us and caused us to get out of Paradise. Adam said to him: You Moses? Allah selected you (for direct conversation with you) and wrote with His own Hand the Book (Torah) for you. Do you blame me for an act which Allah had ordained for me forty years before He created me. Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: This is how Adam came over Moses and Adam came over Moses. (Sahih Muslim). In a hadith that speaks on the ascension to paradise, the prophet sees Adam and greets him. The hadiths of Qudsi are a lot different from the other hadiths because in these hadiths God gives Muhammad the command of saying certain things and Muhammad was allowed to express them in his own words. The Quran, however, was written down exactly as how Gabriel had recited it to Muhammad. Never the less, the hadiths still stand and so does God commands. And how does this connect to my supposed wrong statement? As for understanding God, Allah says in the Quran: No vision can grasp Him, but His grasp is over all vision: He is above all comprehension, yet is acquainted with all things. [Quran 6:103] In Islam, we may not understand every aspect of God, but what was revealed to us is sufficient for our understanding! On the other hand, to claim that you do not fully understand your own religion seems to me a real waste. For we should all understand God’s word, for He does not want us to blind follow but to think and ponder on His words. What is the point of following a religion in which you cannot even fully understand its teachings? Peace and Blessings be to the Believers |
