Peace Lady Fatima,
The crucifixion will always be a stumbling block, a problem for anyone who is not a believer. We have all spent hours trying to convince you that it was a planned and necessary event, prophesised by the prophets. We have spent hours trying to show you that the God who became man, yet never stopped being God, could only do it because He IS Almighty God. We have shown you how as God, Jesus hid himself to prevent murder taking place.. all things happened as Galations says "in the fullness of time" or to be more precise "at just the right time". We have tried to show you that you are so infinitely loved by God that He would have done anything for you.. AND DID.
He was there when you were formed in your mother's womb. In fact He knit you together and made you the person you are today He knows when you rise up and when you lie down. He knows your thoughts and your words before you even speak them. So intimately does He know and love you He knows the number of hairs on your head, and His thoughts towards you are as the sand on the seashore.
This same God was not murdered, nor did He commit suicide. He said He gave up His life for you. He came to this earth as a baby, born, not out of sexual intercourse, but through the Holy Spirit. As God is the Holy Spirit, and God is the Son and God is the Father, (and they are but One God, not three) this was not an act of human reproduction. (is this too hard for the one who Himself is there when normal human babies are being formed in their mothers wombs?) God Himself came into the body of the woman who had never had sexual relations with anyone. She faced death for this very occurence, yet her reply was and should be the ultimate reply that should be all of ours to God and I'm sure Islam would totally agree with "Let it be to me as you have said". Total submission to the will of God, no matter what the cost.
This God who temporarily laid aside His Deity and yet never stopped being God, whilst being man lived amongst us, and said "I lay down my life for my friends and you are my friends." Is there such a great love in this world, as someone giving up their lives for their friends? Is there another way that God can show us that He loves us? Lady Fatima. He loves you so much, He wants you to KNOW not just Him, but also how much he loves you and longs to have a relationship with him as intimate as the one Adam and Eve had in the Garden of Eden.
We can spend hours discussing this, but as Christians enter the Christmas season and think of the new born baby Jesus, so ungodlike and so natural looking, think also of the cry of the angels, the cry of the shepherds and the cry of the astrologers "glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to all men" as they fell on their knees and worshipped Him. Think of the prophets Simeon and Anna in the temple when he was presented there.. and their cry "we have heard and waited and hoped but now our eyes have seen".
To all our Muslim friends... you are so loved by God that He became a man and chose the moment He would die.. no not suicide, for the resurrection proves that this was no unplanned death.. He commended His spirit into the hands of His Father at the very same moment as He triumphantly cried out "It is finished". All that God had put in place to achieve our salvation, and He himself took upon Himself to carry out, had been accomplished. Now there is but one response we can and must respond with.
"choose you this day whom you will serve! As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."
