ArchivedIdolatry in ChristianityHow do I respond to that qoute in the bible? God told them to make it for a reason. I don't know the exact purpose or reason for it. Are you suggeting that we can liberally make graven images b/c God told them to make a serpent to put up in the wilderness or cherubim on sides of teh mercy seat? I hope this is not your argument. Regarding that qoute from the Russain HE wrote: " is not excluded form the union of the human and divine and that the external and sensible objectivity can and must become the really instruments and visible image of the divine power. Hence the cult of the Holy Image and relics, hence the legitimate belief in the miracles wrought by the sacred objects." This guy seems to be in support of idolaty. Let's look at his langauge. "The external and sensible objectivity can and must become the really instruments and visible image of the divine power." God says make no graven images. This guy says can and MUST use as the visible image (representation) of divine power (God). What made you qoute this guy? Do you agree with his reasoning or something? he says "Hence the cult of the Holy Image and relics, hence the legitimate belief in the miracles wrought by the sacred objects" Miracles wrought by sacred objects? Friend. Do you believe this? Miracles wroght by OBJECTS? Is this not putting faith and divine power (God) into something that cannot speak, see, or talk? This guy is surely not a messenger of God. Don't fall for his logic friend. It seems intelligent but when you examine the content, it is supporting things that God is against. With Love, The Persecuted... |
