How do I respond to that qoute in the bible? God told them to make it for a reason. I don't know the exact purpose or reason for it. Are you suggeting that we can liberally make graven images b/c God told them to make a serpent to put up in the wilderness or cherubim on sides of teh mercy seat? I hope this is not your argument.
Yes the point is that it shows not all images are bad thus you can assume that just because an image was made it is evil or you think that God is contradicting himself. You choose to think that that he isn’t contradicting himself because he’s making exceptions. I choose to think it is because he wasn’t making an exception but because he meant soemthig else by the second comandment

Regarding that qoute from the Russain
HE wrote: " is not excluded form the union of the human and divine and that the external and sensible objectivity can and must become the really instruments and visible image of the divine power. Hence the cult of the Holy Image and relics, hence the legitimate belief in the miracles wrought by the sacred objects."
This guy seems to be in support of idolaty. Let's look at his langauge.
"The external and sensible objectivity can and must become the really instruments and visible image of the divine power."
God says make no graven images. This guy says can and MUST use as the visible image (representation) of divine power (God).
What made you quote this guy? Do you agree with his reasoning or something?
His reasoning is that if you deny that God works through material things you have to deny the incarnation so yes I do agree with him. Also you don't seem to understand Idolatry it's not the creation of images it is the worship of them or anything that is not God. So he isn't supporting idolatry.

Miracles wrought by sacred objects? Friend. Do you believe this? Miracles wroght by OBJECTS? Is this not putting faith and divine power (God) into something that cannot speak, see, or talk? This guy is surely not a messenger of God. Don't fall for his logic friend. It seems intelligent but when you examine the content, it is supporting things that God is against.

There is nothing wrong with his content and yes divine grace can be given through objects this is shown in scripture Acts 19:12
So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.
