ArchivedIdolatry in ChristianityOK I'll show why Mary is the Ark of the New Covenant. Let’s start with what the ark contained shall we. It had the 10 commandments (word of God), manna (bread of life), and Aaron's staff (a symbol of the priesthood). Well Jesus was inside Mary and what was Jesus: the word of God, Bread of Life, and eternal Priest. So now you can write that all of as speculation but Hebrew authors had a certain writing style where they use past events to understand Currant ones. The name of this style escapes me at the moment but if you haven't heard of it I'll try and find the name for you at the very most by Monday. Anyway almost all of the writings in the New Testament employ this style. Luke although not Hebrew, also uses this style. In his Gospel he parallels Mary with the Ark of the Covenant. 2 Samuel 6:16 And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart. Luke 1:41And it came to pass that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost In both of these Something enters a place carrying the Lord and a woman experiences a man jumping for joy. The things are both Mary and the Arc. Luke 1:43 And whence is this to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 2 Samuel 6:9And David was afraid of the LORD that day, and said, How shall the ark of the LORD come to me? In both of these someone exclaims basically "how can the ___ come to me." the blank is Mary and the Ark Luke 1:56 And Mary abode with her about three months. And she returned to her own house. 2 Samuel 6:11 The ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite for three months, and the LORD blessed Obed-edom and his whole house. Now in this the ark/Mary stay in someone’s house for 3 months There may be more but this is what I know of at the moment. But if the Ark and Mary are compared earlier in the New Testament and in revelation it speaks of the Ark and then speaks of a woman giving birth to the savior we can only assume that this woman can be Mary. Now the ideas that this woman can also be Israel or the Church are both valid and often in Prophetic writings things have more than one meaning. |
