ArchivedDoes the Bible teach Scripture only?Aieno Wrote I suggest you get "The Bible for dummies", I also have it. Many "Christians" say they have the bible to back up there un-biblical faiths. For example Jehova's Witnesses, Mormons and Unitarians. All claim the bible backs up there doctrine. Aieno Wrote I am telling you that once we die, we go to one of three places: 1 Heaven 2 Hell 3 Purgatory Sheol or Purgatory the realm of the dead which had two parts to it: Paradise Or Abraham's Bosom. The Protestant tradition of going to heaven immediately after death makes a mockery of Heaven; Heaven is a PREPARED place for a PREPARED people; it is a PERFECT place for a PERFECT people; it is a HOLY place, for a HOLY people.. a place of perfect holiness for those who have been made perfectly holy by the sanctifying grace of God. Rev 21:27 "There shall not enter into it any thing defiled, or that worketh abomination or maketh a lie, but they that are written in the book of life of the Lamb." Luke 12:52-59 "Make friends quickly with your accuser, while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison; truly, I say to you, you will never get out till you have paid the last penny." After Jesus "was put to death in the flesh" 1st Peter 3:18, he "descended into the lower parts of the earth [sheol]" (Ephesians 4:10) to "preach to the spirits in prison" (1st Peter 3:19), namely the righteous men whose knees “bow...under the earth” (Phillipians 2:10) such that the "gospel was preached even to the dead" (1st Peter 4:6). Fulfilling the promise "the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God...all who are in the tombs will hear" (John 5:25.28). Afterword, regarding these righteous men of sheol, "when [Jesus] ascended on high he led a host of captives" (Ephesians 4:8) immediately making Jesus the “firstborn of the dead.” (Collosians 1:17). But what happened to sheol/Purgatory after this? Some say it disappeared. But what does Scripture say? Jesus says "I hold the keys to death and the netherworld [sheol]" (Revelations 1:18 - sheol in Greek is hades). Jesus is not holding the keys to something that no longer exists, but to something that still exists. But if it still exists, what is it for? Do any souls still go to sheol even after Jesus’ resurrection? Thus, those whose names were in the book of life did not go to Hell! These remaining people were among the saved! It thus holds the fact that there is a place, neither heaven nor hell, which does indeed detain some number of righteous souls before entrance into heaven. The detainment is called by its common Christian name "Purgatory" rather than sheol. It does exsist. Think! |
