ArchivedDoes the Bible teach Scripture only?WebMaster Wrote I think it does matter if they "attend" JW's or Mormon Churches as these denominations dont preach traditional Christian believes. JW's say Jesus is the arch Angel Micheal, and Mormons believe in a plurality of Gods, and a number of unbiblical things. So these groups are cults. And attending there services should be avoided. Jews reject Christ altogether. What does T/F mean? Aieno Wrote Sola Scripture is a principle nowhere taught or implied in the books of the Bible. It was invented in the late Middle Ages by the Albigensian heretics, adopted by Waldensians somewhat later to justify their heresy, and made the cornerstone of Protestantism in the 16th century. It was unheard of in apostolic times and throughout the first eleven centuries of Christian history. It is "another doctrine" than the one we received from Christ and his Apostles. James 5:13-18 13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praises. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; 15 and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain; and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and the sky poured rain, and the earth produced its fruit. NAS Aieno wrote Confessing ones Sins to a priest is biblical, and does good to ones Soul. I dont see protestants confessing there sins to each other! why? John 20:20-25 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. (Jesus) said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you."And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained." Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. So the other disciples said to him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nailmarks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe." Aieno Wrote
are you serious? so you are telling me that only the 120 can forgive sins? Open your eyes Aieno Wrote Do you have any evidence? Aieno Wrote You havent established that the Marian doctrines were heretical pagan myths that were imported into Christianity! You yourself said in a previous post that Mary was the mother of our Lord, Lord is God, Mary is the Mother of God on earth. Mary had no other children besides Christ, let alone 6. It seems like Mary is nothing more then a baby factory to you Protestants, a instrument that was used and abused. "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" Use your common sence, you stated there are no exceptions to the above biblical quote. Do babys sin? do the mentally disabled sin? no! according to you ALL means ALL! but obviously not all have sinned, you take this biblical metophor literally. Aieno Wrote Point is? Its Just a title, that reaffirms what is true. Aieno Wrote Using the bible alone we can establish many ideas about the Trinity, that conflict with other ideas or theory's. My point here is that Tradition played a vital part in declaring the trinity in its true form etc... Aieno Wrote It is very intresting to see Protestats take the entire bible so literally, but when it comes to Matthew 16 and other verses they start to take the bible metophorically. Why? Because in Matt 16 in proves that the Catholic church is right in its doctrine of the Papacy. And Protestants have no choice but to try and mis-interpretate Matt 16, or beat around the bush. “You are Peter, that is Rock, and upon this rock, that is, on you, Peter I will build my church.” Our Lord, speaking Aramaic, probably said, “And I say to you, you are Kepha, and on this kepha I will build my church.” Jesus, then, is promising Peter that he is going to build his church on him! I accept this view. Matthew 16 17Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven. 18And I tell you that you are Peter,[1] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[2] will not overcome it.[3] 19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be[4] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[5] loosed in heaven." Jesus wasn't saying you to himself was he Aieno? He was talking to Peter. Peter means Rock. Aieno Wrote A custom is not a doctrine Aieno, get your facts straight. All the Eastern Catholic Churches have different regional customs not different doctrines. Its like the Orthodox Churches they all have the same Doctrines yet they have different regional customs, for example Greek Orthodox and the Russian Orthodox. Aieno Wrote The problem is these traditions are not traditions of men, but traditions of the Apostles. I never stated the RCC has the authority to add or delete anything. Aieno Wrote I agree. Peace |
