Religious Cults & False Prophets~ Discussions and DebatesOneness debateActually the duality in Jesus' nature very much biblical and is quite possibly one of the easiest concepts to demonstrate through scripture. He is both the Root AND Offspring of David (Rev 22:16), He is both the Lion AND the Lamb (Rev 5:5,6), He is both the Prince of Princes (Dan 8:25), AND the King of Kings (Rev 17:14) He is both the Shepherd (John 10:11) AND the Lamb (John 1:29). He is both the Judge (2 Timothy 4:1) AND the advocate (1John 2:1). I could go on and on. The biblical concept of the duality in the nature of Jesus is plainly evident throughout scripture. Jesus was around 32 years old when He said, "Before Abraham was, I AM". Jesus was born around 4 BC, yet according to scripture, He is before all things (John 1:1, Col 1:15,16). He was created and has a God (John 20:17 ), yet He is God (John 20:28 ), and the Creator (Heb 1:10). He was restricted the knowledge of His second coming (Matt 24:36) yet He knows all things (John 21:17). As a human He was hungry (Matthew 4:2), yet He is the bread of life (John 6:35). He prayed (Luke 22:44), yet He answers prayers (2Cor 12:8, John 14:14,15) and is the whom whom we pray to (Acts 7:59,60). He said the Father was greater than Him (John 14:28 ), yet claimed equality with God (John 5:18 ). Again, I could go on and on. The point is, once we understand that as a Man, He has a dual nature, anytime we read a scripture where this 30+ year old Man is talking to His creator, we would have no problem understanding. When God became Man, he never stopped being God. The Man, had to pray (as all men should pray). As far as your statement "God cannot die". I've already covered that previously. You may have deleted it (just as you will probably delete this post). But that was one of the purposes of the "Son". There will come a time in which there will be fulfillment of the purpose and role of the "Son". "Sit at My right hand UNTIL I make your enemies your footstool" |
