Religious Cults & False Prophets~ Discussions and DebatesOneness debateIt wouldn't matter if the Pope was trying to use this verse to prove that Mary is the 4th "person" of a godhead. What matters is what it says. It's funny how just the plain reading of scripture, without the use of twisting, can be so simple. In fact, I quoted it, and didn't even have to explain it. You talk about the word "form". Form: (Morphe) mor-fay'; shape; fig. nature-form (Strong's Concordance, Greek Dictionary of the New Testament) It amazes me that I actually have to go to the greek, to prove the Bible actually says what it plainly reads. Your argument isn't nearly as convincing as some other arguments I've heard. In fact, at best you could claim "this verse is referring to Jesus being in the "form" of God". And what is the form of God? For one, God is invisible (Col 1:15, Rom 1:20, Heb 11:27, Exodus 33:20, John 1:18, 1John 4:12, ect..). God is Spirit (John 4:24) So at best you could try and make a similar JW argument saying that while Jesus was in the form of God (meaning = invisible spirit) he did not consider it robbery.... But even worse, you make this scripture mean something completely out of line with the plain reading of the verse, and in fact make this verse un-necessarily repetitive. Ahh, but in light of the rest of scripture, there is no reason to believe this scripture in anyway contradicts the rest of what is written. In fact, fits perfectly. John 1:1,14, 1 Tim 3:16 |
