Trinity DebateThe importance of PurgatoryLook up "Penance". If ya don't get what that means, you don't understand what I've been saying. Nothing I believe contradicts Jesus or Christian doctrine. I'm not going to repeat myself again and again only so it falls on deaf ears. Judaism says nothing about a Heavenly paradise, or a hell. There's a very poor angiology in Judaism. Judaism "evolved" over time and acquired different beliefs, according to God's Will I would assume. Zoroastrians believed in a ressurection of the dead, final judgement, heaven, hell, and angels way longer than Judaism. I'm not sure what to make of that. This could allude to Sheol. It's interesting to notw that the pagan Near Eastern faiths shared a similar view of an afterlife. Jewish eschatology evolved over time. I've commented on that already. Because a Jew is a Greek, that doesn't mean he carries pagan ideas into Judaism. Purgatory exists not as something that is "borrowed", it's just a place where we are purged and refined if it isn't all complete on earth. Our souls are not pure white. Jesus saves us through Grace but that doesn't mean we don't do penance for the ill we've caused and done. The belief is Christian, some important scriptural support along with tradition, tradition that includes guardian angels and the bright light and other Christian beliefs. |
