Trinity DebateThe importance of PurgatoryI really don't like your tone with me. We both believe in the Trinity, in Jesus's saving grace, His passion, death, and ressurection. Both of us are Christians. I am certainly not folliwng a different Gospel. Purgatory isn't some evil twisted doctrine, and if you understood my thread and what I've been syaing you'd be on the same page with me. There's evidences and support for Purgatory, like for the Trinity. Although in scripture, "Trinity" and "Purgatory" aren't actually stated. I'll restate some verses. God can dwell "inside of us" but we can't enter where He Himself dwells? God is OMNIPRESENT DUDE!!! Your response is oxymoronic, its almost as if your writing your own doctrine and trying to incorporate it into the word of God, i'd be careful if I were you. We can't approach God in Heaven in our present state, YET God can dwell in us Now in our present state, do you see/hear how absurd this sounds? God according to you Is NOT OMNIPRESENT, get real! I'd kick myself If I actually to used your response to someone who honestly seeks the truth. You've been programmed by tradition since your youth which is why you can't see the forest for the trees dude! You don't seem to understand what I said. I explained it, reread my thread. Earth is a place we can exist and be impure, and yes God is with us and works with us and gives us strength inside, but His kingdom!! God doesn't want unclean impure things in His kingdom! C'mon. We gotta be lily white to be in Heaven. No hidden doctrines or anything behind this thread, just common sense. If I wasn't that clear then I hope now this is clear. Aineo, the verses you offer don't actually contradict what I believe. Notice the Bible doesn't tell that we'd enter Heaven or hell directly after we die. Here's some scripture that supports purgatory. Zechariah 13:9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined: and I will try them as gold is tried. They shall call on my name, and I will hear them. I will say: Thou art my people: and they shall say: The Lord is my God. II Maccabees 12:45-46 And because he considered that they who had fallen asleep with godliness, had great grace laid up for them. 46 It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins. Luke 12:47-48 And that servant who knew the will of his lord, and prepared not himself, and did not according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. And unto whomsoever much is given, of him much shall be required: and to whom they have committed much, of him they will demand the more Matthew 5:26 Amen I say to thee, thou shalt not go out from thence till thou repay the last farthing. I guess if Purgatory had to be condensed into a sentence, it would read: Not all of us are fully refined in this life, Purgatory is the place where the job is finished. Again, nothing here implies we loose grace of Jesus or that we don't enter Heaven. Scripture makes no reference that says we go straight to Heaven after we die. In a sense, to say Purgatory doesn't exist is as big of a stretch to say it does exist. There is some scriptural evidence. |
