x_m_m_x_, unlike many KJ only advocates I actually researched how the TR came into being. I have also researched the origins of the manuscripts used to translated the NAS and the NIV. So my opinion is based on what I learned over 20 years ago, which is why I prefer the NAS.
Tell me x_m_m_x_, other than what your pastor tells you have you actually checked the origins of the TR? KJ only advocates accuse the translators of the NAS of removing words from the Bible when in fact Erasmus and other copiest added to God's word, for instance 1 John 5:7-8.
I do not start threads that trash the KJ version. I leave trashing modern translations to KJ only people who have not taken the time to educate themselves and then I add my 2 cents worth of real historical information that shows the TR is the corrupted manuscripts. Erasmus was a Catholic priest and a humanist who did what the Pope told him to do.
Also, although I am not a fan of the NIV I know to many people who have come to the Lord through this translation. God is sovereign not the men who edited the Bishop's Bible and the Geneva Bible into the King James Bible.
As to the "hogwash" that you term those who have shown the KJ has translation errors all anyone has to do is get a good Greek Lexicon that defines the Koine Greek to discover that the KJ has mistranslations of the Greek and the same applies to the Hebrew. On the thread GM started on the Bible I posted a couple of proofs that the KJ has some mistranslations, which both of you ignored.
The only reason the KJ is the most popular translation today was because of the Archbishop of Canterbury forbidding the publishing or importing of the Geneva Bible in England. The Geneva Bible was outselling the KJ version by a factor of 10 before his action. You really need to research the origins of the English Bible since you would learn a lot that you now deny as truth.
