Occult.. it's true power source? The Right Wing church has perverted christs :: Re: to LindaRe: to Linda You are very good at taking things out of context, I guess that's what makes you an expert at using the Bible to condemn gays. James' first argument is directed AT YOU (I feel like I'm talking to a 5-year old) hence he started the paragraph with "Webmaster,..." and then said you were "stopping the discussion" by silencing his voice. He said you silenced his voice by demanding that he "read his bible" instead of arguing his previous points so you were, in effect, stopping the discussion. But James goes along with this and uses the Bible and yet you take these words out of context and pretend like he was spurring Aineo to action to close the thread. But Aineo was the first one to suggest this. Tsk, tsk, Webmaster. Good try, though, it was very sneaky. Onto LindaBee: Couple of possible (and factual reasons): 1. Homosexuality was seen as abhorrent in the days of Christ. The level of tolderance we have reached today is miles ahead of Christ's time. Socially, it was immoral (hence Paul's argument that it was wrong, he was probably influenced by the environment around him). This anti-gay environment all but quelched any "openly gay" behavior. Thus, Christ probably didn't see it as an issue at all. Christ had leprocy and famine to deal with. These things were important, and this is also why we must look at the Bible not as literal truth but as a guideline (and what a magnificent guideline it is) for future generations. The Bible can't be rewritten ever 100 years, we have to take the ideas and apply them to our lives. I'm just saying homosexuality was comparitively very minute back then and thus Christ didn't see it as a good or bad thing, HE DIDN'T SEE IT! 2. Christ didn't provide a guideline for everything. That would be arrogant and nearly impossible for him to do. He knew he had a limited time on earth and he concentrated on the most important things: Love, compassion, tolerance, and forgiveness. Everything else was less important. I truly believe that Christ would be ashamed to see people today deprive other human beings of happiness (i.e. gay marriage). Oh wow, what a convincing argument. "It's Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve" Good one Linda. Did you get that off a cereal box? Some holes: 1. Why didn't God create an obviously multi-ethnic relationship? Should we hate mixed people, too? 2. God created a man and a woman to PROCREATE, so the human race would grow. You're right in your assertion that a man and a man cannot concieve a child. But neither can a sterile man and a woman or a man and a barren woman. Should we hate these people too? No, of course not, we "let it slide" for them because they are a heterosexual relationship, they are "promoting" the "right way". B S. THis argument holds no weight because there will always be heterosexuals, thus there will always be procreation, and God knows that, so he's fine. 3. Just because God didn't "create" a homosexual relationship doesn't mean he doesn't support it or think it's beautiful. He made made humans first and foremost to love eachother. If that love is between a man and a man or a woman and a woman, then it's just as beautiful as any other kind of love. Linda, these arguments are just as "re-gurgitated" as any gay theologist (what the heck does that mean?). You give NO support except for Leviticus and Romans (already been discussed) and your arguments dont come from a place of love, like God would want. Onto Aineo:
You were doing good up until this point, this is just absurd. I wonder if you fell asleep and someone typed this as a joke to make you look bad. I especially like the last line "homosexuality is wrong because it hurts other people". What? How does it hurt other people? And that source you site is absolutely ridiculous. Here's how: 1. Ok, this is really pathetic. The basic premise behind the study is that homosexuals get more STDs...HELLO??? SO DO BLACK PEOPLE!!!! Is begin African-American a disease???? Horrible argument, for one, there are less gays than straight people so they have a faster spread of diseases and also the big start of AIDs was in the gay community (it had to start somewhere) and since they have sex with EACH OTHER, it primarily spread to them. 2. The study talks about "fisting" and "sexual toys" that does damage to the body. Wow. Talk about missing the point. There are as many heterosexual people who "fist" and use "sexual toys" as homosexual people, it's not a part of homosexuality, it's a fetish. Just the fact that most people on this site and involved with the study would automatically equate homosexuality with such disturbing fetishes shows a lot about how much they know. That is plain offensive. 3. The Journal has NO evidence detailing how they came out with the "25 years off your like iif your gay". Yeah, I'd say Matthew Shepard got a good 50 years shaved off his life when he was brutally murdered. Gay people are outcast, they are consistently the target of hate. This leads to a high suicide rate, murders, and other assorted things that can really add up to 25 years off a life. That argument was pathetic, I'm truly surprised at you, Aineo, I thought you'd see through that one. Can you read? James said multiple times he doesn't know what gay theology is or what that catch phrase entails. Jesus did talk about adultery but that ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH GAY MARRIAGE! In fact, the separation rate for heterosexuals is much higher than that for gays. Although, I think it would even out if we legalized gay marriage. As it is now, if you're gay and you want to committ, you better be darned sure it's the right one because you will persecuted to no end. Jesus was all about heterosexual marriage because that's what was apparent in his time, homosexuality was all but non-existent. Aineo, Aineo, Aineo. What have you been doing for the last 4 pages? I could quote several times where you used quotes from the Bible which you personally interpreted as one thing or another. Bad, stinky argument. All in all, I'm glad to see that there is at least debate, albeit one-sided as far as compassion and logic goes. I am completely objective, I found this site on google when I searched for "right wing church". I hope my lack of tact hasn't gotten anybody TOO riled up. Also, I hope Aineo won't delete my post before anyone can read it. Also, I wouldn't suggest deleting my post because there will be ten more from a different IP address the day after you delete them.
