ArchivedCalling all Catholics!whosurdaddy Wrote: You are supposed to read the bible, but self interpretation is unbiblical. Think about it! Look at protestantism, over 30,000 denominations because they believe in Personal interpretation is ok. As if Christianity was how you personally percived it. Wake up its not, there is authority, men of learning who do that work of interpretation, not you. The Catholic church interpretated wrongly? Thats according to you, not even all your Protestant brothers in other protestant denominations, would agree with your interpretation fully. One church interpretates differently then the other, in your Protestant faith. Christ placed the Church here on earth for that exact reason, we are one, you are thousands. If you follow the bible, you would have known division is unbiblical. "and there will be only one flock, one shepherd" (Jn.10:16) Ask yourself, who today is one flock? Aieno Wrote: In the book, E.R. Chamberlin (Signet, 1969), entitled "The Bad Popes". The writer finds seven popes that he calls bad, seven out of now almost three hundred. Does this historical fact that some popes lived lives unworthy of their calling discredit the claim of the Catholic Church to be the true Church of Jesus Christ? Let's see what light we can find in Scripture. Jesus Christ himself chose twelve of his disciples to be Apostles, pillars and leaders of the Church (Mark 3:13-19). One of these was Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him, whom Jesus himself called "a devil" (John 6:70-71). The failure and fall of this apostle, personally chosen by Christ, does not discredit Christ's Church. His power is with the Church always (Matt. 28:20), and his Spirit is mightier than the weaknesses of his members. Aieno Wrote:
Protestants take nearly all the bible literally, yet when it comes to Matt 16:18 they try to change its meaning, anything that could be Catholic is wrong to you, so you must quickly find a solution. So you find another way of interpretating the verse/word. Aieno Wrote: Could you please give me a refrence? Something offical that I could read. Peace |
