Trinity Vs. Oneness
This is a write up I did on my webpage along with The Rapture. My grandmother is someone that believes in oneness. She has 4-5 scriptures that shes uses for this topic and she tries to make those 5 fit the other 1000 that represent the trinity. It so clear that it is easier to take the 5 and show how they go with the 1000 then vice versa. Anyways read on:
Trinity Vs. Oneness
Trinity
Belief in one God manifested in three divine persons: God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son of God,
and the Holy Ghost.
Oneness
Belief that Jesus is the only God, who manifests himself in three different ways as: the Father, the Son,
and as the Holy Ghost.
We are gonna take a look at some scripture to look over this issue. I'm gonna cut right through the butter and get down to the good stuff right to the start.
Matthew 24:36
36. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
So this scripture says no man knoweth the hour in which the son will return but the Father only. So that means only the Father knows not even the son. But yet, oneness could easily state these scriptures.
John 10:30
I and my Father are one
So if it says the Father only, it includes the Son, well lets look a little deeper.
Mark 13:32
32. But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
This completely excludes the Son of knowing when he will return. There is nothing more I can say of this.
I could stop right now and this be the end of this writing, but I will continue to better establish the trinity. You may fill you want to leave right now but I ask you to stay if you don't believe this. I am in no way downing the power of the son, saying that he is lower than the Father, for they are one, one spirit, one God. God is just manifested in three divine persons. Think of an egg. In an egg you have: the shell, the white, and the yoke. An egg is one thing but, it has three seperate parts. Now an egg cannot be an egg if I take away the shell, or if I take away the white, or if I take away the yoke. In order for an egg to be an egg, all three must be present and be together working. God is not God, without the son, or the Father, or the Holy Ghost. Please read on to further your knowledge.
Lets see God in his fulness in the works
Matthew 3:16-17
16. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
17. And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
So here we see the Son in the water, then the Holy Ghost, coming down descending like a dove, then a voice from heaven, which is the Father. All three. Next...
Luke 23:46-47
46. And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
47. Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
So here we have the Son, on the cross, saying Father into thy hands I commend my spirit. So he is talking to the Father in heaven. Then the centurion below him is convicted by the Holy Ghost. God at work again. If Jesus is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, then why is he talking to himself in heaven. This would be like he is saying. Myself in heaven, I commend myself into my own hands. Before I move on let's look at some more things at the cross that occured.
Luke 23:34
34. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. AND THEY PARTED HIS RAIMENT AND CAST LOTS.
Why did Jesus say Father forgive them. If oneness was correct why does he not say "I forgive you"
Matthew 27:46
46. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, E-li, E-li, la-ma sa-bach-tha-ni? that is to say, My God, My God, WHY HAST THOU FORSAKEN ME?
In the oneness scenario He would be asking himself, why has he forsaken himself. But He is talking to God the Father and asking the Father why hath he forsaken Him. Jesus also prayed to the Father that he would if it were possible pass this cup from him. If He is the Father also then He would not have to ask. Lets move on to the Acts.
Acts 7:55-56
55. But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
56. And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
So here we have Stephen being full of the Holy Ghost, looking up into heaven seeing the Son, at the right hand of God, which is the Father. All three again. Still one God, but shown manifested in three persons.
Jesus also taught the disciples to pray, Our Father which art in heaven. Jesus said I have come to do the will of the Father. Not mine will, but thine be done. I could quote the scripture but I have many more, I will add these to here later. Jesus said "All power in heaven and earth is given unto me." Why must the power be given from the Father to the Son, if He is the Father at the same time. He also said I go to be with the Father, and that comforter cannot come til I leave. So Jesus is going to be with the Father (not Himself) and the Holy Ghost which is the comforter would come down. In Genesis it states let US go down and make man in OUR own image.
John 8:18
18. I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.
John 3:16
16. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God gave his only begotten Son. God is more than Jesus Christ alone, He is the Father Jehovah God. He is the Holy Ghost that dwells with us today. The Holy Ghost is in the church today, Jesus is where he said He would be, at the right hand of the Father making intercession for you and me not to himself but to God the Father.
