This an interesting subject. I am also a christian.
I understand the scripture has a simplicity about it..but admit that at the same time a complexity about it.
The Doctrine of the Oneness of God is one of them. As far as the Trinity is concerned I'm reminded of what Rev. Billy Graham said on a number of occasions: "I believe in the Trinity, but if you ask me to explain it I cannot."
Now this is an exceptional man in my opinion.
Now Trinity is a word. To understand it there will have to be some solid fundamental groundwork to stand on. So I'm going to ask you some important questions for the sake of argument. I'm not going to use any Historical documents but will use what you give as a basis for our understanding. And if I can help in any way I will.
Oh by the way...Hello Alpha.
Alright here we go.
Alpha wrote: You know what's great? The fact that there are logical examples to support the Trinity out there. Some people might use mathematics to TRY and disprove the Trinity, but the Trinity is not mathematical. So all this argument by non-Christians (or self professed Christians) that "1+1+1 is not equal to 1" or some other mathematical argument, does not really matter. Because the Trinity(Father, Son, and Holy Spirit being God) is still logical.
Gen 2.24, Ex 26:6, 11, 2 Samuel 2:25, Gen 34:16 , Joshua 9:2, Josh 10:42, Ex 24:3, Gen 11:6, 2 Chr 5:12 all show onesness in distinct character. Not to mention there are examples of oneness with distinct characters in nature. For example: Water can be hot, warm, or cold. Matter can be solid liquid, or gas, etc, etc, etc. So don't let those skeptics confuse you with the false argument that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit being God is illogical. Let's not forget that (1) It is logical and (2) God can do whatever He wants. Even the things we do not fully comprehend--This also is a logical argument.

Now if you're going to argue from this perspective....Your normal person will not understand why 1+1+1 is not three. So you wil have to use Math more proficiently.
When you use logical examples such as water can be hot, warm, cold...you have to understand that water can also be steaming hot, hot, not so hot, warm, luke warm, cold, freezing cold...Or...matter being solid, partially solid, liquid, gel, gas and so on.
As you can see...one can find words to demonstrate for and against one's position.
For instance: God is Creator, Father, Son, Holy Spirit, Husband, Friend, Savior, Lamb, Lion and a few others. So one could make the assertion that God is mass (more than 2,3,4,5...) instead of being confined to a particular number.
I've seen in other threads the Trinity defined as God being three persons. So my question to all of you would naturally be...would you please give a definition for the word person. When you use this term what will the common individual assume you mean. So what is a person?...that's a good start here.
KCRonaldo said 1+1+1=3...but that was in the case of three seperate objects. You shake them up and like gelly and they MAKE one. So we need persons defined before we go any further.
Thanks
