Science, Creation & EvolutionEvolution Poll :: Imperfections in evolutionImperfections in evolution Good point, poor argument and understanding of evolution as a whole. Evolution (actually Natural Selection) does indeed favor changes that are favorable to survival. Does this then mean that each system within the current examples of the end result of evolution are perfect? No, what this does mean is that some adaptation has been developed which overshadows or compensates for the “poor design” and allows for the survival of that organism. In the case of the human/eye, it would be the brain. In fact, humans in general are “poorly designed” for survival, however the evolution of the brain has compensated for this. On the flip side, if an all-intelligent being was creating man as the most perfect creature ever, one would expect that such “poor design” would have been corrected for. An all knowing architect does not design a bridge with flaws on purpose, he designs the best bridge he can given his current knowledge and capabilities. The evolutionary chart does not place man at the top of evolutionary development. We are no further evolved than any other creature alive today. We demonstrate a different evolutionary path, but not necessarily a superior one. It is only the religious that place us above other organisms. True, early evolutionists drew the charts with man at the top. This however was done to appease the religious, and an attempt to avoid persecution at their hands. |
