Science, Creation & EvolutionEvolution Poll :: Blessing of Knowledge?Blessing of Knowledge? Would that then mean that that first simplistic organism that could be defined as life is more closely related to what god truly is than man? bless transitive verb Definitions: 1. make somebody or something holy: to bestow holiness on somebody or something in a religious ceremony 2. protect somebody or something: to watch over somebody or something protectively 3. wish somebody or something well: to declare approval and support for somebody or something 4. confer desirable quality on somebody: to give somebody a desirable quality or talent ( usually passive ) 5. thank somebody: to express heartfelt thanks to somebody ( often expressing a wish ) The knowledge that you speak of that man was lacking back then was not “blessed” upon us today. Knowledge has never been made holy by the religious; rather it has been vilified and opposed. Knowledge has never been watched over or protected by the religious; it has been attacked and denounced. Knowledge has never been approved of or supported by the religious; it has been suppressed. Knowledge was not given to man; it was acquired through hard work of scientists, quite without the help of anything religious. Scientists have never been thanked for the pursuit and acquisition of knowledge by the religious.
Nor is Science an attempt to disprove god. Only the religious take it that way. Just because science and knowledge in general, pokes huge holes in the hypothesis that a god exists, does not mean that science is an attempt to disprove god’s existence. It is an attempt to explain how the world operates. Just because this sinks some traditionally held religious beliefs does not mean it is an attack on god.
What we humans refer to as "belief” has only gotten us so far, then something else kicked in, and that is logic and rationality. The beauty of religious argument: Turn it around and it makes just as much sense. |
