Christian/Muslim ThreadsIslam Is The Fastest Growing Religion... Why???I have been a Christian for many years but I am starting to have some doubts. This is the exact reason. I continously see Christians who claim that it makes no difference if the majority of Christians lead lives of marginal holiness and purity, but that, instead, the truth is still the truth. Can you not judge a faith by the fruit created by its followers? I'll tell you what Christianity does. It attracts people all over the world with its well-developed (though complex in many ways) theology. The story of Christ giving his life for us is a hard message to reject for someone who is seeking a relationship with their Creator. Yet, as beautiful and complete as the theology seems, Jesus' teachings tell us very little about how we can live TOGETHER in a society. If we want those kinds of specifics we have to delve into Judaism which puts the Christian in quite a dilemma. For instance, according to Jesus, how do we go about creating wholesome and pure marriages? What is the game plan? Can someone quote me something from the New Testament? That is why divorce among Christians is as bad as divorce is in the world; this faith offers no concrete game plan. But look at Islam, I honestly don't know enough about it, but at least we have the wise instruction that an adolescent boy and an adolescent girl who are not in the same family SHALL NOT be together in less they are in the same room with a member of their immediate family. That is one of Mohammed's teachings. The only people who seem to be "true" Christians following what appears to anyone to be a worthy, holy lifestyle are those Christians with intrapersonal intelligence. What do I mean by that. Well, people have a varied amount of either linguistic (good with words), spatial, musical, interpersonal (good at relationships), logical-mathematical, athletic, or intrapersonal (emotional intelligence). People who have intrapersonal intelligence tend to, out of their own God-given desire for wisdom and truth, follow Jesus teachings quite well. The problem is that there are loads of Christians who are quite weak intrapersonally and they tend to follow Jesus teachings rather miserably. So do you see? Christianity only helps those people who are "truth" seekers in the first place. Islam seems wiser in realizing that the world is made up of more than those people who would naturally spend a great deal of their time reflecting on God and truth, if we are going to have a decent society, then the large percentage of NON-INTRAPERSONAL people have to have God's guidance in how to properly worship him, honor him, and follow holiness. In fact, even those who truly seek God in Christianity can't agree on many of the practical matters of holiness. Christians, you cannot continue to say that it doesn't matter if many, many Christians are rotten Christians. It DOES matter. It DOES say something about the natural fruit of being a follower of that faith. Peace 2 God's People |
