You are putting words in my mouth which I have not said..
I never said that a pinguin might have had an ancestor that was capable of flying. I said that pinguins have not fully developed wings and they have a use for them.
To answer the question in the article that animals without fully developed wings would have no use for them, and extinct.
That my dear friends was all I said. That was all I tried to illustrate with the spaceshuttle example. Animals can have a use for not fully developed wings, just as a spaceshuttle has use for its not fully developed (however designed as they are) wings.
I don't care about the deeper things of evolution, not in this thread at least. Here I was merely trying to show that it is extremely easy to make anything look stupid if you write both the questions and the stupid answers.

Aineo, what do you call a fully developed wing? I wouldn't want to call the wing of an ostrich fully developed since it can't fly with it (and that would be the purpose of a wing I thought) but perhaps you use another defenition?
