Creation of JCF Statement of FaithDo babies goto heaven?Yep. I'm no theologian. I don't have a doctorate. I probably have less biblical training than you do (I would hope so, at least, since you are an evangelist). But I'm not a babe, either. That's good. I'm glad that you have committed verses to memory. Question: When those verses come to mind, what do you do? Do you immediately make an argument based on them, or do you go to the Bible to find out the context in which the verse was written. Like, I said, I'm no scholar, but I do know the three rules of Bible study: context, context, and context. Ok, let's look at the context.
No argument here. But God making Himself man does not imply God taking on a sin nature. You still haven't told me how Jesus could take on a sin nature and be able to die for His own sins let alone the sins of the world. But what does the word "tempt" mean? You seem to be trying to use the definition of "enticing to sin," however, this usage of the word is rare in the Bible. The majority of the times when the Bible uses "tempt" it means "to try whether a thing can be done" or "to prove, test, thoroughly." The Bible does indeed say that God cannot be tempted with evil, or enticed to sin. However, it never says He cannot be proved. In fact, Malachi 3:10 says "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." It would seem by this passage the God is asking us to tempt, or prove, Him so that He can show that He is a God who keeps His promises. |
