Creation of JCF Statement of FaithDo babies goto heaven? You're saying that you have to initiate your salvation by praying. That is a work, and we are not saved by works. We are saved when God's Spirit draws us to Him and He applies the faith of Jesus on our hearts. The moment the faith is applied, we believe and at that point we are saved. Obviously, the next natural step is that we'll want to ask forgiveness of our sins, but that asking is not what saves us. You can believe the doctrine of a singer if you want. I'll stick to the Bible. Why do you give them a free ride to heaven? I suspect that the babies that God has elected to salvation go to heaven, and those that He hasn't, go to hell. If God has chosen to have mercy on all babies and elected them all to salvation, I have no problem at all with that - I just don't think we can assume that He has. What do you think? They all go to heaven by default, even though Jesus said you can't get to heaven except through Him? No, that would be justice. If God were just, He would send us all to hell. But as the verse Omega tried to use in his defense says, God chooses to have mercy on whom He wants to, but that doesn't imply he has mercy on all. Innocent? Says who? Not God. Read Romans 3:23 again. I'm against abortion because it is a violation of the command not to murder and it undermines the sanctity of human life, not because an "innocent" child is involved. And so does the Bible. Can you show me otherwise? It goes to the only other alternative - hell - if God has chosen not to have mercy on it, as is His prerogative to do. How do you know that a prophet did not tell David that his son was in heaven? If that's the case, then what David said is only applicable to that one baby, not all babies. You can't just make a blind application on one verse to support your claim. The concept must be supported by the rest of Scripture, and in this case it's not. But Paul does not say he was not guilty of sin unless he had known the law. He only says he wouldn't have known sin unless he knew the law. Here again, look at Romans 3:23 - we are all guilty of sin, regardless of whether or not we know the law. What are you trying to use this to say? Since children have no knowledge of good and evil, according to this verse they will go in and possess salvation? This verse was written about the Children of Israel inheriting the land of Canaan. I know that Canaan is an OT picture of salvation, so I guess I can see the parallel there. But you're not going to try to claim that all of the chldren of Israel we saved, are you? And even if they were, it was only because God had chosen to have mercy on them, not because they actually worked to gain the land. This verse does nothing in my mind to prove your point, so if you're going to try to use it, please explain how it applies. |
