ArchivedA World without Religion?Well? I`m just trying to get inside a believer`s head here. You must want something out of it. Either you don`t want to face your own mortality, you need to be involved in a plan by a higher creator, or what? You tell me. It is you guys who continously preach about the joy of having God`s love, so forgive me if it sounds like you get off on it. (whatever "it" is) Must be some influence to make you believe in something that has no basis in fact, with the only evidence being 2.000 year old book of tribal myths. Sorry if I just can`t grasp the rationality. Don`t get me wrong, I would like to think the beautiful tale the bible tells me will come to pass, I would just go live in the bush then or something. Spiritual things are not facts by definition. fact is fact. People seem to see ghosts, and take hazy pictures of them even, to them it may be fact, to me it`s hallucination, or mental instability. Ditto on alien spacecraft and abductions. It`s all as inconclusive as the claims of Christianity. I guess you could say I`m from Missouri then. Hmm, I have never met a Christian then, I guess, and no one here lives like he did. And if you believe everything he said, (or what they said he said anyway) Sit down with your bible, do some heavy praying, put your trust in Jesus and believe what he said here: "Mar 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. " Then get back to me. (that was a joke, don`t do it) I agree, it is quite depressing, but sin has always existed, where do you get the idea it is spreading? Men do evil things, it is our nature It may seem to be spreading, but we just now hear about it more easily, and the population is expanding. What has Christianity done for sin so far? Nothing. You can read your bible all day for naught, sin will always be. So get in the line-up for armaggeddon, because Christ said it was coming "soon", but I guess he forgot to say "give or take a few thousand years" Honestly, you are not winning any battles aginst sin, although many good things have been done in your religion`s name, eradication of sin doesn`t seem to have happened. Well this is sort of rational! Welcome to the truth, the earth is destined to be destroyed unless we find a way to stop the damage, or get off of it. Either that, or one day everything will collapse, and millions of people will be killed somehow. Hey, maybe we`ll get hit by an asteroid, and the dinosaurs will rule again. Either way, the sun will eventually burn the earth up into nothing when it `s fuel is exhausted. It`s out of my hands, why should I fret about it day to day. What say you go to your death, and the earth continues on regardless of whatever fancies you had about your God? It`s happened before you know, your beliefs are anything but original. And the rest will burn in hell, even those poor souls that were mislead, well that`s nice! What would you do in your heaven on earth then? Scratch mama Grizzly bears on the chin while their cubs frolic at your feet? That`s what the JW`s like to illustrate in therir literature. Then what? Another Cane comes along and screws God`s whole plan up again? No? That wouldn`t happen this time? Why not? because God wouldn`t let it happen? How would he and still let you have your "free will"? Would you still even be the man you are, or will he fix it so you will follow the plan? What a fanciful notion, even the most pious people have ended up sinning, how will he stop sin when he couldn`t stop it before? Oh wait it was his plan to put us all through this with a golden promise hanging over our heads, among other things, what a practical joker. You *just know* with your heart Boy if I took stock in everything people just know, I`d have some crazy beliefs, I tell ya. So? ROB MY CHILDREN? You know, when my son is old enough to make the decision, I will gladly go through all his options, I will not pick his belief for him, as mine was picked for me. As a matter of fact, I don`t think it is morally right to raise a child in one single religion, remember, they can`t all be right, but they can all be wrong. How would you feel if your child were denied a divine gift because you singlemindedly pounded Christianity into him? Remember, I don`t have the luxury of just "knowing" which is the right God like you do, perhaps if I was as intuitive as you we would not be having this conversation. The only saving grace here is my child would never know when everything went black upon his death. Maybe I owe it to them, for all the programming I got, all the BS answers, and slippery replies to my questions, all those wasted sundays. Where`s my pennance from those that would program me? In actuality it is a moot point, because they didn`t seem to know they were wrong, did they? All I want is for all of you to look beyond, learn and experience things outside of the shelter you have made for yourselves. I gurantee the world will not collapse upon itself if christianity did not exist. I suppose if the bible were never written we would all go to hell huh? I know it`s scary, it is even a sin to doubt God, but ask yourself why the Bible says that. Start with a book that roughly outlines all the world`s religions, then study all the different christian denominations and cults and sects. Get a book on the history of Christianity from the first churches to the smorgasbord we have now. Compare them all, study the differences between all these different Bibles we have, learn about why the church kept splitting apart; find out why the Jews denied Jesus, really look at the difference between old and new testaments, look at eastern religion, look at it all, spend some time at it, you have plenty, for pete`s sake ,open up a little and put the bible down for a while. Look into science and why it conflicts with the bible, stay off the Answers in Genesis propeganda machine or other creation websites and books and learn from sources that have nothing invested in themselves. And when the doubt creeps in, don`t fall back on your old programming and blame Satan, cripes, you blokes blame Satan for everything, the perfect imaginary scapegoat to keep you in line. |
