Getting back to the original post by unite which I think is a great topic, no doubt there is tremendous in fact overwhelming chauvinism among people whether they are religious or not-as in you are stupid for not following my belief or you must follow my belief (meaning that I am angry that you do not submit to me-angry because I know I have no power over you) as opposed to I hope to benefit from sharing my belief with you and listening to yours. Not that difficult to confirm this by reading much of the exchanges here, and this is a decent board with respectful people who are interested in good. It is a fundamental human trait and the whole reason why we are on earth as opposed to being with God. We want and still think the world can be according to our own desires even as it is proven to us every day that the world works according to its creators rules.
Absolutely, there is rampant chauvinism among Christians, not in Christianity but among Christians. But the same is true for muslims. It was true historically and it is true today. No, Omar which started it and the rest that followed had no right and were absolutely not following Islam and the Quran in attacking other countries to try to convert them to Islam, even if they were truly well meaning and wanted the best for them. No one is anyone else's advocate. Even the prophets were not advocates for people their sole responsibility was to deliver God's message.
5:99 The sole duty of the messenger is to deliver the message, and GOD knows everything you declare and everything you conceal.
42:48 If they turn away, we did not send you as their guardian. Your sole mission is delivering the message. When we shower the human beings with mercy, they become proud, and when adversity afflicts them, as a consequence of their own deeds, the human beings turn into disbelievers.
3:20 If they argue with you, then say, "I have simply submitted myself to GOD; I and those who follow me." You shall proclaim to those who received the scripture, as well as those who did not, "Would you submit?" If they submit, then they have been guided, but if they turn away, your sole mission is to deliver this message. GOD is Seer of all people.
Chauvinism goes both ways. Or more accurately it is not even the domain of religion. Have you talked to certain atheist to see how arrogant they are and how much hatred they have for you for simply believing in God, the Creator?

One of the principal causes of unbelief in the modern world is the plurality of religions which appear mutually contradictory. So long as the Europeans were convinced of their own racial superiority they had no reason to doubt that Christianity was the only true Faith. The notion that they were the crown of the `evolutionary process' made it easy to assume that all other religions were no more than naive attempts to answer perennial questions. It was when this racial self-confidence declined doubts crept in.
What do you think?
