Peace humble guest,
Jesus' (pbuh) message obviously spread to more than just the Jews, but as a Messenger he was sent to correct the Jews and reiterate Moses' message.
Actually Jesus purified the Law of Moses from legalism, and stopped such practices as stoning adulteresses an stuff.
Muhammed just went back in the other direction!
But when are you claiming Islam was ever spread by fighting? Nobody was ever forced to convert, on the contrary the whole point of the growth of the Islamic state is so that NO Christian or Jew would have to be subservient to their "human" kings in places like Byzantine and Persia. The point was to allow religious minorities to live by their religious laws but not have to be forced by their empires' civil laws or kings to be servile.
But Muslims don't go around fighting people just because they have different beliefs. At the time, the message of Islam was being suppressed by the rulers, and there was no religious freedom even for the Jews and Christians under their authority. The only difference is that the Jews and Christians could live under Muslim rule and practice their religion freely. So the fighting wasn't based on the differences in belief, it was based on resisting overt opposition to the spread of the Message and insuring the sovereignty of people from any human subservience.
That is BS!
Christians and Jews generally lived well under Persia, but at times were presecuted, nonetheless they thrived.
Byzantium was a Christian theocracy.

Here is the Pact of Omar, oppressive evil laws imposed in non-Muslims.
This is still enforced by Sharia!
Jesus (pbuh) was a Messenger sent specifically to the Jews in a particular region, whereas the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was sent as a Messenger to mankind.
Isaiah 49:6
He says:
"It is too small a thing for you to be my servant
to restore the tribes of Jacob
and bring back those of Israel I have kept.
I will also make you a light for the Gentiles,
that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth."
You who believe! Retaliation is prescribed for you in the case of people killed: free man for free man, slave for slave, female for female. But if someone is absolved by his brother, blood-money should be claimed with correctness and paid with good will. That is an easement and a mercy from your Lord. Anyone who goes beyond the limits after this will receive a painful punishment. (2:178)
Retaliation as in killing the person?
It's really up to you if you want to be convinced that Muslims are commanded to kill all non-Muslims. If you want to read the Qur'an without its exegesis, you'll interpret it as you will.
Or maybe your "perfect" book wouldn't be so vague.
And you trust what humans beings interpret from the Quran, and every though they may be important scholars, they are still imperfect and may not correctly or perfectly interpret the Quran.
In fact, some people may intepret the Quran according to their own agenda, like Mullahs are doing to day to incite violence and killings agaisnt Americans.
