Race and ethnicity is one of the obsessions of humanity, and I believe may have an affect on spiritual choices. Here in Turkey there are people who try to invent a Turkish Islam contrary to Arabic Islam, as if such a thing exists. These are mostly chauvinists who despise Arabs as a race. Their only supporters are some extreme secularists who are not really interested in religion.
As for Europeans, noone can deny that western people think they are the most civilised humans and they have to carry civilisation to others by any means. It is a common view in the West: "we and others". This might have brought about a prejudice against others' beliefs too.
Actually, Christians now easily dismiss crusades and inqusition as unchristian although I think those are results of some inherent characteristics of the theology and establishment itself and continued for very long time to be dismissed, and they still stick to christianity. That might has something to do with racial prejudice, maybe because they think no other faith is worthy of consideration as they are the most civilised people. This is specualtion of course, as I am not from a Western nation. You should refer to yourselves for the answer. But the person I quoted is a British, Gai Eaton. He is Muslim now. I didn't give reference because you guys easily discredit ideas looking at where they come from.
We should be able to deal with ideas objectively.
