Christian/Muslim ThreadsChauvinism and ReligionIt's really up to you if you want to be convinced that Muslims are commanded to kill all non-Muslims. If you want to read the Qur'an without its exegesis, you'll interpret it as you will. Only those that choose to fight are subdued. Otherwise, those that fully allow the Message to be heard don't have any concern. But it doesn't say "kill any Jews in the world". These refer to all the Jews that had conspired against the Muslims after breaking the truce. And of course, the command is subject to the laws of battle, which would exclude women and children. I don't think you have a solid grasp on how the Qur'an was revealed. People didn't find it somewhere, read it, and interpret it on their own. When such verses were revealed, people would ask what they meant, and the prophet (pbuh) would interpret them and qualify them. Well how are you going to know the precondition if you just look at the verses apart from what stage in time they were revealed? Obviously whoever chooses to restrain themselves will get their reward. But it is the right of the oppressed to get their due. You who believe! Retaliation is prescribed for you in the case of people killed: free man for free man, slave for slave, female for female. But if someone is absolved by his brother, blood-money should be claimed with correctness and paid with good will. That is an easement and a mercy from your Lord. Anyone who goes beyond the limits after this will receive a painful punishment. (2:178) There is life for you in retaliation, people of intelligence, so that hopefully you will guard against evil. (2:179) If you want to retaliate, retaliate to the same degree as the injury done to you. But if you are patient, it is better to be patient. (16:126) Peace |
