Science, Creation & EvolutionDinosaurs? The Setterfield page still ain't science. They claim that light interacts with virtual particle pairs. The keyword here is virtual. You can't interact with something that is virtual. You can compare this with focal points with lenses. If you have a positive lens and let the sun shine through it, you can make the focal point visible. I think everybody tried this sometime. If you however have a negative lens, you won't be able to make the focal point visible. This doesn't mean that there is no focal point, but that the focal point is virtual. In other words, you can't interact with it. The same goes for virtual particles, they are virtual, you can't interact with them. Light interacting with virtual particle pairs is nonsens! ----- And about the statement that it is accepted that the speed of light hasn't always been constant: It is accepted that the speed of light behaved differently during the first moments after the Big Bang. Moments as in amounts of time much smaller than a second. It is not accepted that the speed of light has been a variable for thousands of years. |
