ArchivedPriests referred to as FathersOk. But next time(if there is a next time), can you please be more specific? I think this is the second time we had a misunderstanding. The first time I thought the "LOL" was for me, but it was for Tuppence. That "silly" remark also turned out to be for Tuppence. ??? Jumped right into what? The topic? I DID create this thread. And again, I apologize if I gave a bad first impression by asking the question or according to you, "jumped right into it"--the topic I assume. So, I am sorry once again if I sounded somewhat...blunt. But that doesn't matter though. Still, if I was really rude about this, you shouldn't react the same way in response. Not that I'm saying you were rude to me. But you DID say I was ignorant, you admitted that. So, if I am ignorant about this(which I won't doubt because I know I have alot to learn, but I am just telling you things based on what I have learned so far), then you should be more polite. This is why I will ask again: Will you laugh at the person's face? <----Now that is NOT being polite. You're right - it doesn't say to call our biological fathers "father". What about in the 'religious sense'? Isn't that the difference? Take your priest for example. He's a man, right? Of course he is. What does Matt. 23:9 say again? It says to "CALL NO MAN your father". Yet, your priest(who is a MAN and who is also capable of being infallible) is called "father". The verse is just that simple. Doesn't take a "rocket scientist" to understand it and obey it, just read it and it's all common sense. But then again, I have yet alot to learn. I think I mentioned it more than two times. The fact that priests are being referred to as "father" in a 'religious sense' and the fact that should I call my dad "father" it is because he is my parent. Likewise, should I call my mom "mother", it is because she is my parent. That should be the difference. I just got done telling you the difference(unless you have a rebuttal for it), so now you know. *thumbs up* 8) But I want to add something first. In our church, we have ministers. We don't call them "minister" or "pastor" and definitely not "father". We refer to each other as "brother" or "sister" [sometimes] followed by their first name. Example: In church, one of my brothers or sisters would refer to me as Bro. Bryan or just "bro". |
