ArchivedPriests referred to as FathersThat's ok. None taken. However, I do not agree that what I asked was a silly question. This topic has been discussed on another religious Forum I'm part of, and the members there happen to take it seriously. None of them, not even the Catholics said it was silly. Ok. But what if a person asking for some help came up to you and asked you the same question? Will you laugh to his face or will you address him appropriately and respectively? If someone asked me if my dad was my father, I'd say yes, he IS my father. You ignored the part when I said that the priests are being referred to as 'Father' in the religious sense. In your prayers, do you refer to God as Father? I do, and I know you do too. But when you go to your chapel, you also call your priests 'Father' in that religious sense. There's a BIG difference between calling your dad 'father' and calling your priests 'father'. Calling the priests father I think contradicts Matt. 23:9. If you ask me, I think a much more suitable term to refer one another in whatever religion an individual belongs to is 'brother' or 'sister', no matter who it is I think those terms should be referred to every member of your religion. Oh ok. Sorry for the misunderstanding. |
