ArchivedPA officials guilty of blatant violation of First AmendmentIt's just 'politically correctness.' Homophobia isn't very PC. So most people who aren't christian (bearing in mind that four in five people in the UK are atheist - no doubt the US is similar) would probably immediately take the side of the homosexuals before they even know the full story. It satisfies the press to give out a story about homophobia and blowing it way out of proportion. However declaring that a large group of people are sinners in a public place is asking for attention frankly. Not everyone believs it and it isnt fair to force it on people; it's not better than if it where the other way around. Still the media are prone to exaggeration. Political correctness isnt always a good thing. About a decade ago the police got involved with a family under suspicion that the father (and most likely the mother) was molesting his daughter (only a small child). However the family denied the charges, implying some kind of twisted racist plot against them. So of course the police backed off immediately (if they had continued the media would have gotten involved and they'd have ended up with a similar mess to the one you described). This was only a couple of months before the girls death. |
