ArchivedMy son is gay.Yes, forgiveness is not an option it is a commandment. Why should a mother encourage her son to live an immoral life? Her child is a teen who is allowing his emotions and lack of knowledge to dictate what he believes? As a parent would you encourage a teenage girl to find a lover and engage in sex and then get an abortion if she gets pregnant? Do you know all the ramifications to the health (physical and mental) and ability for women who have had abortions to conceive in the future? Is it your contention that any child is emotionally mature enough to make decisions that will effect him the rest of his life? That is not being a parent, that demonstrates a total lack of real love for a child. Real love does not abdicate parental responsibility. Another arrogant statement that lacks any knowledge of the trauma parents go through when their child announces he/she has adopted a life that is harmful to their childs emotional, psychological, and physical health. My own mother had to be dealt with with love, compassion, and understanding when she found out 2 of her 4 adult sons were gay. I have dealt with parents of teenagers whose children have come out and believe me it is a shock to them. They need to be helped to understand the why. Oh, it would be easy if science could prove it is genetic, but science cannot prove it is genetic. On the other hand psychology can demonstrate gay desires are developed through childhood trauma. So why does a parent, especially a mother need compassion? My mother beat herself up for years because she wondered what she had done wrong. My mother buried her first child who died during child birth when she was 23; she buried her youngest son who died from AIDS when she was 72; and now she has to deal with her second oldest son being an AIDS patient. So you tell me that parents of gay children do not need love, compassion, and understanding as they come to terms with what every culture in the history of the world has tolerated, but never legalized to the extent the modern gay movement is demanding. May I suggest you proof read your posts before you hit the submit button. I will take the word "faking" to be a typo. I do not demand or expect any person to take my word for anything. I gave Betty links to resources where she can gain knowledge. When dealing with gays seeking real information I refer them to books written by professionals who have experienced what they are going through. If the gay community would treat us with the same respect they demand for themselves we could come to some accord where we can exist together. However, you have come to this message board and assumed a lot about Christians and me in particular based on your ignorance of the truth about me, the subject under discussion, and a total lack of understanding what it means to be a parent. I fully understand that some will take my posts at face value and therefore I try to be careful in my choice of words. So far all you have posted is bigotry, assumptions, and have shown you lack any real knowledge of the mental, emotional, and physical problems found in open and active gay men and lesbian women. The Bible teaches us to love our neighbor as ourselves; it teaches us that we do not have the right or authority to judge those outside the Body of Christ; it teaches us that our personal lives are to reflect Jesus not usurp His authority; the Bible teaches we are to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us; the Bible teaches us that parents have the responsibility to raise their children, not allow their children to dictate to them. you quoted one radical segment of Jews who disagree with Israel maintaining their national sovereignty. This demonstrates a lack of knowledge on your part and the fact you used “Tora” (not Torah) as the source of the teaching, which actually comes from the Talmud only demonstrates you are grasping at straws. The fact these radical Jews would rather ignore the Abrahamic and Davidic covenants in the name of politics does not make their position true or factual since they are ignoring a vital part of their heritage. Your ignorance of a faith you choose to quote from is not my concern, and your attempt to use my knowledge against me is infantile and only demonstrates the weakness of your argument. Christianity and Judaism have a common history so why should it bother you I know something about Judaism? God personally wrote the 10 Commandments and dictated the Torah to Moses. God inspired men to write the prophecies and the other books found in the Bible. What is fascinating is that archeology is establishing the historical accuracy of what many believed were nothing more than Biblical myths. This is a subject for another thread in another forum. May I suggest you read some of the threads in the Science and Open discussion forums before you make a total fool of yourself posting inaccurate and fallacious statements. Loosely quoting communist and fascist philosophers is not going to make your case. |
