I think we need a bit more focus on the individual case here.
- We are agreed that Betty's son did not choose to have homosexual feelings.
- With God, all things are possible. As Aineo has witnessed, this means that with faith and devotion to God, Betty's son's orientation can be changed.
- Betty's son has just realised his feelings and they feel totally natural to him. He is also at a critical age. Kids at that age are generally insecure and feel a deep need to fit in. Anything that makes a kid different at that age is going to stick out and they are going to get teased for it. I got picked on for being a nerd and other people got picked on for being overweight, spotty... one of my friends was picked on for the way she ate!
- If he's getting grief for being gay at school, this puts his mother Betty in a VERY difficult position. On one hand, if her son is living a sinful life then he needs a push in the right direction to get on track with God. But on the other hand, if he doesn't know that it's sinful (let's remember that to him this feels totally natural), then to him it is likely to seem that his mother is unloving and will upset him further.
- Let's pray for Betty and her son. God is the only one who can sort it out.
