Archiveda literal hell? i found this article interestingSurely there is an exception to every rule, but this one can only signify to us that the water baptism is a symbolic act for man to choose to do, which is, in essence, dedicating one's self to God. This is showing us that, to the all knowing Mind of God, water immersion is not the determining factor of such dedication, but instead is dependent upon the sincerity in a man's heart as to his intentions for truly accepting and following Jesus Christ, whether Jew (born into it) or Gentile (adopted into it). Does it say anywhere that Cornelius afterward rejected the Lord? That he turned back to sin? God is not human; God is perfect in all things. God doesn't abuse us. I don't understand the point of comparing a perfect God with abusive parents. Surely. If someone truly accepts Jesus and is filled with the Holy Spirit, how can they not obey God? Of course, it's not as if there will be an end to the daily decisions each of us face each day, but that is one of the benefits of following Christ. We are no longer alone, we have the greatest Counselor at our side as long as we allow it. Why would we choose this, enjoy the benefits, and then reject such benefits and comfort? Can you, yourself, not testify as to the glorious feeling of being filled with the Holy Spirit? Romans 13:2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. Clearly, one is always able to lose their salvation on their own accord. But the real point here is that God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, are more power than is available any other way, and that a person truly saved will not want to be lost again. Not that its not possible, it's just not likely one would desire to return to the old lost and lonely life before Christ. If it's easy to turn away, then that was not truly the direction to begin with. Romans 6:14-18 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. Romans chapter 6 is also very clear on these things. We have one thing to do: truly repent and give ourselves to Christ. He has told us that He will not turn us away. How many are written of, in the bible, to have turned away after receiving Jesus Christ as their savior? I'm not sure what you mean by an 'ideal threat'. As for myself, personally? No. I have no desire in my heart to turn away from the love of God, and there is no comparison to the joy I have knowing what I have been given. The Holy Spirit was sent as comforter for us, and ensures we are filled with the knowledge of the promise of God and the gift of Jesus Christ. Love is the inspiration for our testimony, not fear. Luke 12:32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. 1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. Is it fitting for us to testify on the perfect love of God by talking about punishment more than blessing? Our purpose is for the winning of souls to Christ, not for the judging. |
