First of all, you need to make a better distinction when referring to different religions. True Christians do not pray for the dead, and they do not believe in purgatory. Those are Catholic beliefs, and Catholicism and Christianity are two different things. So rather than make generalizations like this, it would be better to refer to different religions as such rather than dumping them all into the "Christian" catch-all bucket. Or at least qualify your statement by saying "some Christians" instead of just "Christians," which implies "all Christians." :x I hate it when people try to justify doing wrong things because they know that standing up and doing the right thing is hard and will take courage and strength. Your brand of Hinduism seems to be one that just allows a mother to take the easy way out if they believe the child won't be brought up well or if it will be disabled. Is there no faith in your religion? Wouldn't your Brahman take care of those who have faith in him that he will provide them with everything they need to raise up the child in the correct way? From what you say, it seems that Brahman would just say to himself "Well, she couldn't have done it by herself, and I couldn't have helped her. I won't hold that against her even though I've said that murder is a bad thing." What kind of double-standard is Brahman trying to push here?
You don't know how your Brahman judges things?!?!?!?! Aren't there any sacred writings in Hinduism that would give you a clue as to what he's thinking? Why on earth would you chose to follow a religion that doesn't give you any guidelines on how the god of that religion is judging everything? Your Hinduism can be summed up by the following: Do what you want and hope for the best when you die (and are reincarnated, and die, and are reincarnated, and die, and are reincarnated, and die.......). What brought you to the conclusion that a religion that has this as its philosophy is a good religion that you want to base your eternal destination on? |
