Abortion Memorial Servicewhy abortion is good.I'm not sure if I understand how anyone can "pray a child into heaven" according to your beliefs, Gerani. Could you please explain this? From what I understand of Hinduism (which isn't all that much), the basic idea is that you keep getting reincarnated until you get it right (i.e. become perfect), at which point when you die, you get to go to heaven/nirvana. If this is true, then abortion would seem to me to be one of the worst things you could possibly wish on someone. Think about it for a minute. For sake of argument, say Hinduism is correct. I live my life in such a way that Krishna, or whoever is the top dog in your religion, says that I have to come back as a baby that will be aborted (since you say that Krishna and the Christian God are the same, then that means that Krishna knows everything and he knows full well that I will be aborted). Now, you've already argued that your religion doesn't believe that the fetus is a complete human being, so that means that while it is gestating, it does not have the ability to do anything, good or bad, that would have any effect on what Krishna says it should be reincarnated as. Thus, when the fetus is aborted, it is ordered to come back as the same thing it did last time - a baby that will be aborted. So it just becomes an endless cycle. Is this really what your religion teaches? And what about this "praying for those who have died"? I didn't know this was a part of Hinduism - I thought it was more of a Catholic idea - but like I said, my knowledge of Hindu is lacking. I thought the only thing that affected how you were reincarnated or whether or not you get into nirvana was how you lived your life, not who prayed for you. Please explain this to me so I can understand better. Thanks! |
