ArchivedVirgin Birth of JesusOne God, Peace and thanks Now, I have to ask you to consider something. We are having a discussion. You are telling me your beliefs from a muslim perspective and an understanding of the qur'an, and I am telling you my beliefs from the perspective of the Bible. now, you say that quoting from the NT will lead us out of the the discussion. I truly pray that that is not the case. I have many concerns about the Qur'an and it's authenticity, however in order to fully discuss these issues, I'm willing to put aside those concerns, read and quote from the Noble Qur'an and discuss and ask questions using the Qur'an and hadiths and other papers that I am reading, and then using the Bible .. Old and New Testament, to compare what I know with what I am reading. Now, I think as we are both respecting each other, my asking questions and making comment based on my understanding of God is fully acceptable, and your answer that just because I am quoting the New Testament, that it makes my arguement invalid, is disappointing. Like you, I mean no disrespect, and hope we can continue these very important discussions. I am just trying to discover how you can say you KNOW God, when you believe Him to be so totally transcendent as to be willing to say "if Allah wills" on every part of your life. How you can say you KNOW God , when you have no assurance of the shame and sin in your life being cancelled by the good deeds. Please allow me the right to use the Holy Bible as my standard to compare what you say about the character of God from the Qur'an. I would respectfully remind you that the Qur'an itself allows this, for it says .... Surah 29:46 compared with Surah 3:64 "Do not argue with People of the Book, but in the best possible way. except in the case of those among them who have been unjust. ( bi-llati hiya ahsan - this I believe we are all doing in these threads and as a result growing in our knowledge of the others faith. Say: We believe in what has been sent down to us and to you. Our God and your God is One, and we are surrendered to Him. the Surah also says in 10:94 If you are in doubt about what We have revealed to you, enquire of those who have read the Book before you. The truth has indeed come to you from your Lord." So, I believe that my calling on my Holy Book to discuss and ask questions is valid in this case. You also said This is of course part of the thread, in my opening paragraph of my first post to the thread I said OneGod, please forgive me if it doesn't show throughout the threads, that I am indeed trying to compare and contrast our views, and explore questions I have or which arise as a result of this. I am looking forward to furthur discussions with you Peace Carol |
