ArchivedVirgin Birth of JesusBoth Muslim and Christian believe in the virgin birth of Jesus.. that Mary was untouched by a man, yet she gave birth to a son. From my reading, the difference we see in the resulting "man" Jesus, was that whilst you believe He was a prophet only, we see him as the "Son of God" or more correctly, God Himself come in the flesh. Now.. when a Christian declares that God miraculously intervened and Mary found herself pregnant with Jesus, the immediate thought by Muslims is that we are saying that God had sexual relations with her.. yet the fact we say it's a virgin birth, disproves that. the problem seems to be, because we call Him the Son of God. Muslims find it easy to believe that God could do a miracle and cause Jesus "to be", but not that "God could be made flesh and live amongst us." (as God would not limit himself to a human body, or God cannot beget, so therefore how could Jesus be the Son of God.. is this right?) Please could someone explain why one is able to understand and accept the Muslim understanding of the miracle/event, but not accept the Christian explanation. Surely denying that God could be made flesh and live amongst us is saying God cannot do something.. something Islam says is impossible. Thanks for your patience carol |
