ArchivedVirgin Birth of JesusOneGod, Now.. am I right in thinking that at this point we both agree.. that God created the world through His word? In John chapter 1, which is my signiture, we read that "In the Beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was with God.. and the Word was made flesh and lived amongst us". If I have read and studied this surah properly, the words used are "Kun fa yakun" (Be! and it is!) Now, on this forum, you know me as Carol_au. You know how I write, you are probably recognizing my style of responses compared to others who write here regularly. My words represent me, and are a part of me and they will always be a part of me, even after I have spoken them. This is true of God, you cannot separate Him from His word. If I understand correctly, from your response, you have said the thing that separates my understanding of the virgin birth, from your understanding, is that we differ on what we believe God can or cannot do and still remain Almighty God.. the One and Only God. You have quoted the Qur'an in Surah 5:17 where it says Now, as a believer in Almighty God, that Surah shows me, that God can do anything he chooses to do.. include incarnate Himself into the body of a human to achieve His purposes and plans if He wanted to. I fully realise, that this is ground you will feel uneasy walking on, as it may seem like "shirk" to agree or even just to discuss in a postive way some of the things we believers talk about in relation to Jesus being the "Son of God" . and I WOULD AGREE with you, that I would be talking blasphemy if I made an ordinary man into a God and worshipped HIM as God. Therfore, this is the final part of my question What if God did reveal Himself and the Holy Spirit (the Christian understanding of the Holy Spirit.. that is God Himself,) came upon Mary and there was NO intercourse, (for Christians do not believe there was intercourse) but God Himself became flesh for a specific purpose and plan ? This is not shirk. Would this not be placing God in His right ful place in the universe.. it's Creator and the one who can do anything He chooses to do.. just as the Qur'an says. I don't want to discuss the rest of your post at this point as I have some questions and comments I want to think through first, but if you or anyone could please just answer/comment on these questions I have written here, I would appreciate it Peace Carol |
